Operation of the Candiru Base locates and seizes drugs transported in speaker boxes
The action took place within the scope of the "Protector of Borders and Boundaries" operation, which aims to intensify the fight against cross-border and environmental crimes in hard-to-reach areas.

The action to protect the rivers of Pará continues continuously through the integrated river bases, providing more security to the population. In a supervision operation on Sunday (03) through the Integrated River Base "Candiru", located in the Óbidos strait, 2.3kg of drugs were located and seized from a vessel destined for Belém. The action took place within the scope of the "Protector of Borders and Boundaries" operation.
The police work in the investigations approached the ship "Itaberada", coming from Manaus, the capital of Amazonas. The team from the River Group along with Military Police units conducted inspections in the cargo and passenger compartments. Upon observing a speaker box, the agents suspected the weight of the cargo was inconsistent with what was stated on the packaging.
Using the sniffer dog "Isis", the presence of drugs was indicated. When dismantling the equipment, two packages containing a substance similar to "skank" marijuana were found. In light of the facts, the seized material was forwarded to the Civil Police team for the adoption of the appropriate legal procedures.
The director of the River Group, Colonel PM José Vilhena, highlighted the importance of combating crime in the rivers of Pará.

“This intervention highlights the relevance of the relentless fight against criminal activities in waterways, with a special focus on the illegal drug trade, aiming to protect our area. The seizure of 2.3kg of drugs represents a significant blow against organized crime in the region, demonstrating the effectiveness of supervision operations and the importance of maintaining constant vigilance in our rivers to ensure the safety of all,” he said.
The "Protector of Borders and Boundaries" operation is coordinated by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, in partnership with state agencies, and aims to intensify the fight against cross-border and environmental crimes in hard-to-reach areas, such as the Amazon river network.
