City Park welcomes half a million visitors in less than thirty days
The largest urban intervention for COP 30 pleases the public and leads leisure options in Belém. The space will remain open for visitation until August 17.

The City Park is the newest darling of the people of Pará. Designed to be the largest urban intervention for the preparatory works for the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP 30), the space occupies an area of 500,000 m² and features solar panels, natural water treatment, landscaping with over 2,500 trees, and preserved forest areas.
During the school holiday period, the location was open to the public and offered a wide range of cultural and sports activities for children, teenagers, and the elderly for free in the first edition of the Public Summer Camp. In less than thirty days, the park reached the mark of half a million visitors and quickly became the preferred outing destination for families in Pará.
“The Park is a novelty, an imposing work, a spacious area with many leisure options. It is a place aimed at practicing sports, walking, a safe environment for children and the whole family. The Park is for all people from Pará and represents one of the great legacies that COP 30 will leave for our city,” highlighted Governor Helder Barbalho.

With 14 environments designed for sports, leisure, and socializing, the Park includes bike paths, courts, a running track, playgrounds, outdoor gyms, an Olympic-standard skatepark (the second largest in Brazil), and a water park. The project also includes sustainable solutions, such as solar panels.
The final project includes the Aviation Museum, a Creative Economy Center, bike trails, eco-trails, preserved green areas, a lake, and sports facilities aimed at promoting quality of life, leisure, culture, art, and well-being.
Ana Beatriz Bahia is a military officer who visited the City Park for the first time recently and was enchanted by the grandeur of the structure, the richness of tree and plant species, and above all, for being a place with many fun options for children and adults.

“This park is truly beautiful! Huge, it has courts for various sports. I had been wanting to come here for a while, but today I managed to and I am loving it. I brought my 5-year-old daughter, and she is amazed,” she said.
During their stroll through the space, mother and daughter enjoyed the lawn for a picnic. “Belém needed a place exactly like this, I live in Marambaia, close by, so it’s great, next time I will bring our bicycles and we will have fun,” joked Ana.
“Here we can be relaxed, this soft flooring is wonderful. The little ones can run and jump freely. For me, the City Park is already the greatest legacy that COP 30 can leave to the residents of Belém and the region,” concluded Ana Beatriz.
The quality of the materials used for the construction of the toys and the cushioned flooring made of recycled tires in the playground caught Letícia's attention, who praised the careful design of the project for creating a safe and comfortable space for children.

Tree planting and sustainability - The park incorporated advanced climate mitigation technologies, such as the use of photovoltaic solar energy - a renewable and clean source of electricity obtained by converting sunlight into electricity - and rainwater harvesting and reuse systems. In addition, there was a significant expansion of green areas, with the planting and transplanting of 2,500 trees, reinforcing the commitment to sustainability and climate adaptation in urban areas.
Among the species planted and transplanted are samaumeira, rubber tree, mamorana, ipê, açaizeiro, bacabeira, pupunheira, and endangered species such as cedar, mahogany, and acapu. The landscaping also includes 190,000 ornamental plants and 83,000 square meters of grassed areas.
The wetlands, known as “filter gardens,” use plants to purify water, reducing environmental impacts in an economical and effective way. In the City Park, two vertical filtration systems with aeration will have the capacity to treat between 22 and 118 cubic meters (m³) of effluents per day, sufficient to serve up to 2,800 people. In addition to efficiency, the technology requires little maintenance and does not generate chemical waste, making it a sustainable long-term solution.

The park will remain open until August 17 - To facilitate the simultaneous setup of the Blue and Green Zones, the park will be closed to the public on August 17. This measure safely allows the movement of equipment, the installation of pavilions, and the implementation of the security systems, clean transport, and waste management planned in the project.
