The district of Mosqueiro, in Belém, hosted the Housekeeping course from July 28 to August 3, promoted by the State Tourism Secretariat (Setur) in partnership with the National Rural Learning Service (Senar) and the Municipal Culture Secretariat of Belém (Semcult). The classes took place in the auditorium of the District Agency of Mosqueiro, in the Vila neighborhood, and brought together residents interested in expanding their opportunities in the job market through professional qualification.

The initiative was part of a set of actions aimed at improving tourism reception in Pará, especially in preparation for COP 30, which will be held in Belém in 2025. The training covered topics such as room arrangement, hygiene, hospitality, and customer service, essential knowledge for those who wish to work professionally in the hospitality sector.

The Professional Qualification Manager of Setur, Ana Cunha, highlighted that the course is part of a continuous effort by the Government of Pará to prepare the local population for the opportunities arising from the growth of tourism. “We are promoting the housekeeping course in the district of Mosqueiro with the aim of preparing the local population for COP 30. This action is part of the State Government's effort, through the Tourism Secretariat, which has been investing in training courses to strengthen tourism and generate new job opportunities,” she stated.

The Senar instructor, Bruna Paiva, reinforced the importance of qualifying the local workforce in light of the new international scenario. “The implementation of the housekeeping course in Mosqueiro represents an important step in qualifying the local workforce, especially in light of COP 30, which will bring international visibility to Belém and its districts. As an instructor, I was able to closely observe the commitment of the participants and the social relevance of this initiative,” she assessed.

A resident of the Island of Mosqueiro and a participant in the training, Henrique da Costa de Sousa shared his experience: “I have been working as a cook for seven years, and the housekeeping course is giving me the chance to work in a new professional area. Since Mosqueiro is a tourist island and with the arrival of COP30, this course brings more options and job opportunities for both me and the other participants. I can only thank Senar and Setur for providing us with this opportunity,” he declared.

The course contributed to strengthening the local tourism chain, providing the community with the necessary tools to enter the service sector more qualified, focusing on generating sustainable employment and income.
