River patrol confirmed tranquility in the rivers during the last weekend of the holidays
Integrated work among security forces ensured social peace for visitors who sought the islands near Belém for family leisure
The last weekend of the Summer Operation 2025, Saturday and Sunday (August 2 and 3), had reinforcement from security forces in river patrolling and inspection, ensuring the safety of the population of Pará, in the rivers and islands of the Metropolitan Region of Belém. The actions were coordinated by the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), through the River Group (GFLU) in conjunction with the Independent River Police Company of the Military Police and the Maritime River Group of the Fire Department, to curb crime and reinforce inspection around the bathing areas and establishments that receive a flow of people on weekends, such as the Islands of Combu, Prainha, and the Belém waterfront.
The actions of this last weekend of the Summer Operation confirmed a reduction in the flow of people in the rivers and establishments of islands, such as Combu, and resulted in the approach of 10 vessels and more than 25 people being advised about safety and the risks of drowning in river areas.
According to the head of the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado, the inspections in the river network under the "Summer Operation 2025" occur according to the established planning, to reinforce prevention and curb crimes in the rivers and islands surrounding the Metropolitan Region of Belém, which has a higher flow of people on weekends and during the Amazon summer.
Differential - "We are concluding another Summer Operation, and fortunately all the intensified operations in the river network occurred as planned for more than 30 days, being intensified on weekends, ensuring the safety and social peace of all who chose the islands closest to the Capital, with the presence of security agencies nearby and ready to provide all necessary support," said Ualame Machado.
The differential for the success of the actions lies in the integration and also in the entire structure set up, especially on weekends, such as the public safety support point on the Guamá River, with the presence of a vessel from the River Group anchored near Praça Princesa Isabel, with the operation of a Police Station for recording occurrences and other procedures and alignment between security and inspection agencies, explained the Director of the Public Security River Group, Colonel PM José Vilhena.
"The integrated and planned actions together with the other agencies of the state public security system and other agencies working the river axis during the Summer Operation, marking presence in various regions of the state in the rivers and islands of our region, demonstrate the commitment to security and concern for the well-being of citizens, so that everyone could have fun safely. Therefore, the integrated actions and all efforts made during the month of July were fundamental to maintain tranquility, as evidenced by this first weekend of August and the last of the summer operation in which we noticed greater tranquility,” said the director of GFLu.
The actions of the Summer Operation 2025 began on June 28 and will conclude this Monday, the 4th.
