The State Secretariat of Penitentiary Administration (Seap) carried out, on Friday (1st), a General Inspection simultaneously in all 55 prison units in Pará. The objective is to maintain control of the penal institutions. The meticulous action in the cells concentrated the internal forces of the secretariat in the Santa Izabel do Pará Penitentiary Complex, in Greater Belém, composed of 10 prison units.

The Deputy Secretary of Operational Management (Sago) of Seap, Ringo Alex Frias, was at the forefront of coordinating the operation. The entire operation was supported by the penal police from the units and the forces from the Penitentiary Operations Command (COPE), Penitentiary Action Group (GAP), and the Search and Recapture Group (GBR).

"This mission today has a preventive nature, aimed at avoiding or mitigating certain incidents that may occur in prison. We act preventively. If there is any type of illicit activity, if there is any type of object or any type of procedure on the part of the inmate that does not comply with the Manual of Procedures, according to the regulations provided by the LEP (Penal Execution Law)," said the secretary.

Ringo Alex explained that the Marabá Penitentiary Complex is monitored by the Penitentiary Action Group (GAP). "In addition, the Search and Recapture Group (GBR) is also present with us, covering the inspection in the Metropolitan Region of Belém, which includes the Screening Centers, the semi-open units, the women's unit in Ananindeua, and all the entry units, such as Marambaia," he informed.

The secretary gave a positive assessment of the operation. "So far, there are no records or occurrences of illicit materials found, no cell phones, no sharp objects that could harm others. However, we will finalize this diagnosis in the general context of Pará."

Captain PM Alcântara, commander of COPE, spoke about the strategy for distributing the agents. "In today's mission, we are in the Americano Complex, Marituba Complex, and the CRF in the Metropolitan Region of Belém. In the interiors, we are in Abaetetuba, Tucuruí, Redenção, Itaituba, and Santarém. COPE is strategically positioned so that these activities can be carried out and achieve the objectives for which they were proposed. COPE also acts to correct and supervise, so that custody continues to function normally, according to the principles established by the secretariat's policy," he emphasized.

For Wolber Oliveira Campos, coordinator of the Metropolitan Region of the Penitentiary Administration Directorate of Seap, the action demonstrates control in the prison. "Today, we have prepared staff, investment made by the secretariat itself, so that Seap has the autonomy to carry out these inspections in general," he assured.

"All the involved staff and the management team are extremely qualified to carry out this inspection simultaneously, within the legal procedures of the Penal Execution Court, within the LEP (Penal Execution Law), and within our standard operational manual, to ensure the integrity of both the staff and the detainees, and the internal and external security," he added.

The coordinator also highlighted that there were no incidents. No accidents were recorded. All detainees were cooperative during the movement. Due to the presence action and the proportionate number implemented, the mission ended successfully.

In Secretary Ringo Alex's assessment, the general inspection actions in the prison units provide social peace to the operators, who can carry out their respective activities during working hours. With this, we can demonstrate the control we have today in the prison system. It is one of the most robust protocols in the entire national scenario,” assured Ringo.
