The Government of the State of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), began this Friday (01), in Parauapebas, the sixth stage of the XIV edition of the Open Games of Pará (Joapa), with the Carajás region. The opening ceremony takes place at 7 PM, at the "Islander Souza" Sports Gym, located on Rio Grande street, s/n, Beira Rio I neighborhood.

The program extends until Sunday (03), bringing together 232 athletes from the municipalities of Canaã dos Carajás, Marabá, and Parauapebas. The competitions involve four modalities: basketball, futsal, volleyball, and table tennis.

Promotion of sports and social inclusion

Considered the largest amateur sports competition in the State, Joapa encompasses all 144 municipalities in Pará in 10 regional stages. The initiative promotes sports as a tool for inclusion and social integration.

"We are starting another stage of the Open Games of Pará, this time in Parauapebas, bringing together more than 230 athletes from three municipalities. I wish everyone an excellent participation and, above all, to have fun and enjoy Joapa," highlighted the head of Seel, Cássio Andrade.

Recognition of the performance of the delegations

In addition to the competitions, the event promotes the Efficiency Trophy, awarded to the municipality with the best performance in the regional and state stages. "It is a recognition of the effort and dedication of the athletes and teams, and an incentive for everyone to give their best throughout the competition," added the secretary.

Technical Congress marks the start of activities

The official activities began with the Technical Congress, at 4 PM this Friday (01), at the "Islander Souza" Sports Gym. The meeting included the participation of delegation heads and refereeing teams, under the guidance of Seel's Technical Coordination.
