Workshop and presentation of new resident brighten Sunday at Mangal das Garças

August begins with a fun atmosphere at Mangal das Garças. On Sunday, 3, the Zoobotanical Park will host another edition of the children's programs Ecozoo Moment and Ecoarte Project, highlighting the presentation of the newest resident of the space: a broad-winged hawk. Children will also be able to participate in a creative workshop to make paper hawks. The program starts at 9 am, at the Park's Amphitheater, with free admission.
Recently, the park welcomed a new inhabitant: a broad-winged hawk. He will be presented to the public during the Ecozoo Moment, in an interactive and educational manner, with the support of the park's technical team. The activity aims to bring the little ones closer to the local fauna, allowing them to learn more about the importance of the species, ask questions, and interact with the little animal in a playful and conscious way.
“This hawk was delivered to the park by SEMAS of Abaetetuba because some family had domesticated him and cut his feathers. He is currently with us and undergoing a rehabilitation process, with falconry training and also a specific nutritional management to help accelerate the feather molting. Even so, he can no longer return to nature because he is an animal that trusts humans a lot. If he is released, he may end up getting close to someone again, and that person may want to keep him, cut his feathers, or cage him,” says Camillo González, veterinarian at Mangal.
The recreation continues in the Ecoarte creation workshop. With the guidance of monitor Mayara Cohen, the little ones will be able to create their paper hawks to represent the animal they met during the program.

The Ecoarte Project is promoted by the Government of Pará, through the State Tourism Secretariat (Setur) and the Social Organization Pará 2000, which manages the Zoobotanical Park.
In addition to the workshop, Mangal das Garças offers other attractions, such as the José Márcio Ayres Reserve (butterfly house), the Amazonian Navigation Memorial, and the Belém lighthouse, which require tickets purchased at the ticket office.
