In Aracaju, Sergipe, this Thursday (31), the president of the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Pará (Emater), Joniel Abreu, presented to leaders of official technical assistance and rural extension agencies from other States, at a national event, the actions of the Government of Pará in favor of family agriculture.

The Amazon plenary was highlighted on the second day of the 40th Extraordinary General Assembly of the Brazilian Association of State Entities for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Asbraer), an event that extends until this Saturday (2), in the Sergipe Room of the Del Mar Hotel, in the Atalaia neighborhood. The aim of the event is to facilitate dialogue and integrate goals among public agents at state and federal levels, the legislative power, and social movements in the agricultural, environmental, and land sectors.

Emater-PA highlighted actions such as the ongoing restoration of five thousand hectares of degraded areas, through the implementation of agroforestry systems (safs) and the reconstitution of riparian forests, and the holding of fairs and thematic seminars in all 144 municipalities of Pará, to disseminate and raise awareness on topics such as forest preservation and low-carbon solutions, considering the upcoming COP30 (30th World Climate Change Conference) in Belém this November.

“We have chosen five priority agendas for the pre-COP30 and COP periods. We managed to convey the relevance of the role that Emater has been developing over these almost 60 years of existence [to be completed on December 3], articulated with sustainability agendas and climate emergencies. We are heading towards good practices, ensuring a safe transition in this moment of climate emergencies, all within the Environmental Agenda consolidated by the Government of Pará,” points out Joniel Abreu.

For the president of Emater-Pará, participation in the Asbraer Assembly strengthens a network of debates on state technical assistance as a whole, providing visibility: “It is an opportunity where we share data and join efforts for demands for improvements in service delivery to the federal government, for example,” he says.
