UsiPaz de Castanhal offers free legal services through the Federal Public Defender's Office
Partnership with the state government ensures consulting, advice, and legal guidance on federal judicial issues related to health, education, and housing
Residents of municipalities in northeastern Pará now have access to free legal services offered by the Federal Public Defender's Office (DPU), directly at the Usina da Paz in Castanhal. The partnership between the State Government and the federal institution was formalized this Tuesday (29), in a symbolic act that marked the beginning of services and the delivery of a fully equipped service station, which will ensure access to legal services for the entire community.
Free consulting, advice, and legal guidance services for processes and judicial issues in the areas of health, education, and housing are already available to the public, from Monday to Friday, as well as assistance with specific demands such as the 'Minha Casa, Minha Vida' and 'Bolsa Família' programs, pension and assistance benefits, retirement and rural retirement, maternity salary, sick leave, death pension, BPC/LOAS, Fishing Insurance, among others.
During the launch ceremony of the services, the Federal Public Defender General of the Union, Leonardo Magalhães, highlighted the importance of the services that will now be available and that will benefit, in addition to Castanhal, residents of 23 other municipalities in the region.
"I am happy to inaugurate the Federal Public Defender's Office service station here at the Usina da Paz in Castanhal today. I thank the entire team of the State Government that is enabling this public service for the population, especially here at the Usina da Paz, which is a place that brings together so many services and connects various agencies to the population. We continue to work to expand to other cities. Being able to use this space offered by the State is very important for us, as it is essential that the population has access to the Public Defender's Office," he stated.
Partnership - Federal public defender Ana Michelle Leite, head of the DPU in the State of Pará, thanked the partnership with the State Government for the benefit of the people of Pará.
"Without this partnership, we would not be inaugurating a physical location for the Federal Public Defender's Office to serve the population of Castanhal and the region today. The State Government is aware of the importance of access to Justice. We know that, especially the vulnerable population, with digital exclusion, needs a place where they can have better communication and access to services, so having this new room here at the Usina da Paz is of great importance and a significant advance for our Justice, which continues to undergo a process of interiorization. This is a partnership where everyone wins," she declared.
For the State Secretary of Citizenship Articulation, Elieth Braga, the presence of the DPU strengthens the role of the Usinas da Paz as centers of citizenship and social transformation.
"We are very happy with this partnership. The presence of the Federal Public Defender's Office at UsiPaz de Castanhal reinforces our commitment to promoting social justice and caring for those who need it most. It is another important step in bringing rights and services to the interior," said the secretary.
Services - Shortly after the launch of the services, dozens of people sought the reception of the Usina da Paz to schedule appointments with the DPU.
The self-employed Maria do Espírito Santo sought guidance to access health assistance, something she has been pursuing for about 2 years. "For us, this type of service is very important because it is difficult to have to go to Belém to get an appointment. With the service here in our city, it will definitely make things much easier," said the self-employed worker.
Service - The services offered by the Federal Public Defender's Office at the Usina da Paz de Castanhal will take place from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 2 pm.
