Military Police distributes new weapons and reinforces security structure in Pará
The government has already transferred to the corporation 4,400 Beretta pistols, 4,000 ballistic vests, and 1,000 transceivers, an investment totaling nearly R$ 20 million
The Military Police of Pará took another step in modernizing the corporation with the delivery of new Beretta APX .40 caliber pistols on July 25, 26, and 27. This action, which is part of the strategic planning of the Government of Pará to strengthen public security, benefited PM units from six municipalities in northeastern Pará.
The distribution of the weapons is part of the equipment delivery promoted by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), on July 9 of this year. Among the materials transferred are 4,400 Beretta pistols, 4,000 ballistic vests, and 1,000 transceivers. The total investment is nearly R$ 20 million, sourced from the State Public Security Fund (Fesp), managed by Segup.

The first shipment was destined for the Regional Policing Command VII (CPR VII), with the delivery of 886 pistols, distributed according to the operational demands of each unit within the Regional Command's jurisdiction, which includes the municipalities of Capanema, Bragança, Salinópolis, Capitão Poço, Augusto Corrêa, and Viseu.
Before receiving the new weapons, the police officers undergo a training course to ensure the safe and efficient use of the firearm. 2nd Sergeant Emerson Ricardo Alves da Silva, with 27 years of service, highlighted the importance of the new equipment. “I have used various firearms adopted by the corporation. Now, I took the handling course for the PT Beretta to remain qualified for the use and handling of the new weapon. Without a doubt, this new instrument will bring much more security for the agent, as it is a modern, reliable weapon, and one of the safest in the world,” he stated.

Reinforcement in other regions - The next deliveries will benefit units of the Regional Policing Command IX (CPR IX), which serves the municipalities of Abaetetuba, Barcarena, Cametá, and Moju. The training units of the corporation, such as the Center for Training and Improvement of Ranks (CFAP) and the Military Police Academy, will also receive the new weapons. At the end of the distribution to the 14 major commands, 4,239 pistols will be delivered throughout the State.
The general commander of the PM, Colonel Dilson Júnior, emphasized the importance of the investments: “With this reinforcement, the Government of Pará advances in the modernization and standardization of the police apparatus and in valuing security agents, essential elements to ensure the protection of the population and the presence of the State in all regions,” said the colonel.
