Regional Hospital of Caetés Boosts Self-Esteem of Hospitalized Patients
Thirty patients received haircuts in a care initiative that involved a partnership with a local barbershop
As a reference in medium and high complexity in northeastern Pará, the Public Regional Hospital of Caetés (HRPC), in Capanema, northeastern Pará, held a special event focused on the well-being of hospitalized users on the afternoon of this Friday (26). The initiative, promoted by the Humanization Working Group (GTH), in partnership with Barbearia Prianzo, offered free men's haircuts, benefiting 30 patients from the unit. The action took place in the Reception on the 1st floor of the Hospital, providing a moment of care and appreciation for the users.

For Silmara Santos, a Laboratory technician and member of the GTH, actions like this strengthen humanized care in the unit. “These moments go beyond physical care. A haircut can boost self-esteem, restore dignity, and provide comfort to those undergoing treatment. It is gratifying to see the smile on our users' faces after this gesture of care and attention,” she emphasized.

For barber Cledson Moura, who was responsible for the service, participating in the initiative was an opportunity to make a difference in the users' lives. “I know that many patients spend weeks hospitalized, and a simple gesture can have a big impact. Helping others is a role that we all must fulfill. Sometimes, we spend so much time in the barbershop that we don’t realize how we can be useful outside of it, bringing self-esteem to those in need,” said the professional.

Approval - Max Simões Cordovil, 28 years old, a resident of the municipality of Garrafão do Norte (about 100 km from Capanema), is hospitalized at HRPC due to a tibia and femur fracture. According to him, “the action goes beyond visual care, it greatly improves our self-esteem. Being able to get a haircut and shave makes us feel more confident and valued during hospitalization.”
The Caetés Hospital Complex is part of the state health network of the Government of Pará, through the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), and serves exclusively through the Unified Health System (SUS). The unit is located on Avenida Barão de Capanema, in the Centro neighborhood, in Capanema. More information can be obtained by phone at (91) 3122-7391.
