On Tuesday (22), the headquarters of the Public Security and Social Defense Secretariat (Segup) received a group of 22 officers from the Police Military Improvement Course of the Federal District (DF) on an institutional visit. The students were able to learn about the management model and the infrastructures that the state Security System has, which result in the constant reductions in crime.

The Officer Improvement Course (CAP) is a higher education course aimed at PMDF officers seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills for exercising command and leadership functions in larger units. In pursuit of exchanges between institutions, the course has already taken place in the states of Paraíba and Paraná, now reaching Pará.

The choice of the Public Security System of Pará is due to the significant reductions in crime achieved, resulting from the management model consolidated in the current government: investment, integration, and intelligence.

“As the Police of Pará demonstrated a significant decrease in crime rates, the Military Police of the Federal District decided to include in the captains' curriculum this experience of understanding the functioning and strategies adopted by the corporation, to enhance the curriculum of these captains who are finishing their improvement. We were surprised by the significant result; this reinforces that the work is being well done,” explained the coordinator of the Officer Improvement Course (CAP) of the Military Police of the Federal District (PMDF), Major Paulo Krohn.

He adds: “We noticed an organized police force, with much to instruct and present to us. So it greatly adds to our knowledge to improve good practices also in our capital's police,” he concludes.

The visit, guided by the coordinator of the Integrated Operations Center (CIOp), Colonel PM Felipe Aires, began at the Integrated Command and Control Center (CICC), a technological complex that integrates monitoring, analysis, and response activities to emergency situations, aiming to strengthen public security in Pará.

Next, they proceeded to the CIOP, the first direct contact channel for the population with public security agencies for urgent and emergency calls, linked to Segup, which has 27 years of service to the population.
