Hemopa Foundation and 8th Jungle Maintenance Battalion Reinforce Blood Stock
Strengthening the partnership between the Government of Pará and the Brazilian Army, the campaign was supported by Hemopa's Mobile Unit

The Hemotherapy and Hematology Center Foundation of Pará (Hemopa) held, this Tuesday (22), another blood collection campaign in partnership with the 8th Jungle Maintenance Battalion of the 8th Military Region of the Brazilian Army, located in the Marambaia neighborhood in Belém. The initiative aimed to reinforce blood stocks during the school vacation period, when demand in hospitals increases and donations tend to drop.
The collection was carried out with the support of Hemopa's Mobile Unit and a specially structured room
for the care of volunteers, ensuring comfort and safety during
the donation process.

Hemopa's social worker, Vanessa Pimentel, emphasized that this is the first campaign of the year at the Battalion, but that the partnership with the Army is historic and strategic. “It is a Battalion that always collaborates a lot. In recent years, it has been the military organization that contributed the most to the blood stock, that participated the most and carried out campaigns. The July campaign is essential to reinforce stocks during this seasonal period when we have a decrease in the number of donors at our collection units,” she highlighted.
Vanessa Pimentel also stated that the partnership helps to gain the adherence of new donors. “Volunteers are encouraged from conscription to develop the spirit of solidarity and empathy. This is very important for Hemopa,” she affirmed.

Solidarity - The commander of the 8th Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Bertolino, highlighted the importance of mobilization. “For us, it is very important to be able to assist the people of Pará with this donation. It is an activity that we consider extremely relevant, a gesture of solidarity to increase the number of blood bags during this vacation period,” he said.
Among the volunteers, Corporal Vitor Cassiano da Silva Monteiro shared his
satisfaction in donating. "For us, it is very satisfying to be able to help in this way. We know
that many people need blood. It is something that makes us feel very fulfilled,”
said the soldier.

The Hemopa Foundation reinforces that any healthy person aged between 16 and 69 years and weighing at least 50 kilograms can donate blood. It is necessary to present an official document with a photo. Minors need authorization and the presence of a legal guardian.
