Santarém delegation shines and wins the Efficiency Trophy of Joapa in Monte Alegre

The State Government holds the competition focusing on social integration and the appreciation of sports in five modalities in the municipalities of Pará

The Santarém delegation shone in the fifth phase of the Lower Amazon regional of the Open Games of Pará, winning the prestigious Efficiency Trophy, accumulating 48 points, on Sunday (20). The team excelled in futsal, handball, volleyball, and table tennis. The competition held in Monte Alegre highlighted the talent and dedication of the Santarém athletes. Right behind, the municipality of Óbidos secured second place with 31 points, followed by the team from Alenquer in third place with 23 points.

Organized by the Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), the Open Games of Pará represent the largest amateur sports event in Pará. The competition promotes social integration and the appreciation of sports in various communities.

The Efficiency Trophy rewards the delegation that accumulates the most points in the competition. The event brought together about 651 athletes from seven municipalities in five modalities from July 17 to 20.

The deputy secretary of Seel, José Francisco, emphasized the importance of Joapa in promoting sports. "A beautiful celebration took place here in the municipality of Monte Alegre, seven municipalities participated in this moment of unity through sports. This social integration and promotion that sports bring is fantastic; Joapa is the largest competition in Pará, bringing together all municipalities. I want to congratulate all the delegations of this regional stage," he said.

The champion volleyball athlete from Santarém, Kilvia Ribeiro, expressed her happiness for winning the gold medal and the Efficiency Trophy. "Contributing to this victory of this trophy means that Santarém is a great powerhouse in sports, both in handball and football, in women's and men's volleyball, so it is a great joy, a great pleasure to receive this Efficiency Trophy, and seeing that our sport is only growing in our city, I am proud of everyone," said the gold medal athlete.

The handball athlete from the municipality of Óbidos, Irenice Albuquerque, highlighted the title won for the first time in Joapa. "This achievement means a lot to us; for several years we have been trying, and this year was really different, it was a strong final against Santarém, but we achieved the long-dreamed title, the long-dreamed first place. Thank you very much to the State Government, to everyone involved for this coordination, for this wonderful event, thank you very much," said Irenice.

The handball athlete from the municipality of Alenquer, Luane Costa, emphasized the achievement of the bronze medal for the municipality: "It is an honor to be participating. Unfortunately, we could not take first place, but God willing, in the next Joapa, we will be prepared and will seek the title."

The municipalities that participated in the Lower Amazon regional were: Alenquer, Almeirim, Curuá, Itaituba, Monte Alegre, Óbidos, and Santarém. The competitions involved five modalities: futsal, beach soccer, handball, volleyball, and table tennis.
