A cargo of soybeans was seized on Saturday (19) by inspectors from the Coordination of Goods in Transit Control of Carajás, from the State Department of Finance (Sefa) in the southeast of the State. Coming from Xinguara (PA) heading to São Luís (MA), the 78,760 kilograms of soybeans were valued at R$ 161,704.13.

“During an inspection carried out on the Carajás Railway, in Marabá, two vehicles transporting goods were approached. One of them was carrying 39,360 kg of soybeans, and the other, 39,400 kg. After document analysis and consultations with Sefa's systems, it was found that the taxpayer failed to collect the ICMS within the regulatory deadline, regarding the advance upon leaving the territory of Pará. Although the invoices presented the nature of the operation as non-incidence of ICMS, it was, in practice, an interstate operation, with soybeans, without any proof of classification under a special regime that would authorize the exemption from tax collection,” explained the unit coordinator Cicinato Oliveira.

Two Terms of Seizure and Deposit (TADs) were drawn up, totaling R$ 29,146.30, referring to the ICMS and the fine.

The Department of Finance maintains eight border units that carry out inspections of goods in transit in the territory of Pará.
