The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), delivered this Wednesday (16) a kiosk entirely dedicated to women's service at the Usina da Paz in the Terra Firme neighborhood of Belém. The equipment offers self-service to women victims of domestic violence.

Hana Ghassan: equipment contributes to breaking the cycle of violence

“The state government installed the kiosk, exclusively for women's service, here at the Usina da Terra Firme, the first UsiPaz to receive the equipment, which will help women report violence and register their occurrences, enabling them to break the cycle of violence and abuse they may be experiencing, by communicating with the Police,” emphasized Vice Governor Hana Ghassan during the delivery ceremony.

The State Secretary for Public Security and Social Defense, Ualame Machado, highlighted Pará's pioneering role in addressing the demands of women victims of domestic violence, streamlining, through technology, the registration of these occurrences.

Pioneering - “Pará is already a pioneer in this type of virtual service for women, which offers everything from reporting occurrences to requesting protective measures, all defined virtually. We have already delivered the first women's service kiosk at the Women's Hospital when it was inaugurated, and now we are delivering the first kiosk in a Usina da Paz. We also plan to deliver the other kiosks by the end of this year. In total, 15 of these kiosks will be installed, with the possibility of expanding to more, especially in areas with higher demand, where we need to be closer to women, offering more protection,” emphasized Ualame Machado.

This is the first kiosk installed within a UsiPaz - a complex of citizenship and security services created and maintained by the Government of Pará - which provides self-service to women in situations of violence, through access to the Virtual Women's Service Police Station for reporting occurrences, and the Service Center, where the victim receives guidance on requesting protective measures, service locations, and referrals to Specialized Women's Police Stations (Deam).

For the social worker at the UsiPaz in Terra Firme, Patrícia Cardoso, the equipment adds to the public policies that the Usina provides to the community. “The kiosk, for us, is something new, and it will greatly facilitate service. First, this woman needs to receive support and guidance on all her rights and the security she will receive. Therefore, this already makes it much easier, especially for those living in Terra Firme, as they often had some fear of seeking another space. This will improve this service. It will ensure that women experiencing violence have better access and feel safer in this type of service. As a social worker, this is a great initiative, and it further enhances the public policies developed for these women,” informed the social worker.

Prevention and protection - Today, Pará has a women's service kiosk installed at the Women's Hospital. Fifteen kiosks are planned for strategic points, such as Usinas da Paz, facilitating access and service to women victims of domestic violence. The total investment amount is R$ 2 million.

The delivery of the equipment reinforces the state government's commitment to combating crimes committed against women, offering another service that integrates the network of care, protection, and prevention directed at victims of violence.
