The Government of the State of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), begins this Thursday (17) the regional stage of Lower Amazon of the XIV edition of the Open Games of Pará (Joapa), in the municipality of Monte Alegre, western State. The opening ceremony will take place at 7 PM, at the Curaxi Sports Gym, on Nini Cavalcante street.

The program runs until Sunday (20), gathering 651 athletes from the municipalities of Alenquer, Almeirim, Curuá, Itaituba, Monte Alegre, Óbidos, and Santarém. The competitions involve five modalities: futsal, beach soccer, handball, volleyball, and table tennis.

Promotion of sports and social inclusion

Considered the largest amateur sports competition in the State, Joapa encompasses all 144 municipalities in Pará in 10 regional stages, promoting sports as a tool for inclusion and social integration.

"We are starting another stage of the Open Games of Pará, this time in Monte Alegre, bringing together about 651 athletes from seven municipalities. I wish everyone an excellent participation and, above all, to have fun and enjoy Joapa," highlighted the head of Seel, Cássio Andrade.

Recognition and encouragement for performance

In addition to the competitions, the event also promotes the Efficiency Trophy, awarded to the municipality with the best performance in the regional and state stages. "It is a recognition of the effort and dedication of the athletes and teams, and an encouragement for everyone to give their best throughout the competition," added the secretary.

Technical Congress opens the program

The official activities begin with the Technical Congress at 4 PM, in the auditorium of the Carim Melém School, located on Major Francisco Mariano Avenue, in downtown Monte Alegre. The meeting will be conducted by the Technical Coordination of Seel, with the participation of delegation leaders and refereeing teams.
