Companies prospect areas in the Industrial District of Marabá in southeastern Pará
Enterprises in the furniture and circular economy sectors seek support from Codec to expand operations and strengthen the industrial hub of Marabá

The Government of Pará, through the Pará Economic Development Company (CODEC), received, on the morning of this Tuesday (15), representatives from the companies Du’Sono Colchões and G. Pires Araújo during online meetings that addressed the prospecting of areas in the Industrial District of Marabá, in the southeastern part of the state. The agendas reinforce the municipality's potential as a strategic hub for new investments, with proposals aimed at the manufacture of mattresses and upholstered furniture, in addition to the valorization of industrial waste.
Du Sono Colchões, already established in Marabá in a rented property, operates in the production of mattresses and upholstered furniture, and wants to expand its structure and ensure greater productive autonomy. The company expressed interest in acquiring a property of approximately 30 thousand square meters to build a new unit with adequate fire protection and, in the future, to implement an annex for the manufacture of springs — a component currently purchased outside of Pará.
The company currently generates 52 direct jobs and about 200 indirect jobs, with potential for expansion to new positions. During the meeting, support was requested from Codec in identifying an area with adequate infrastructure for access by large trucks, in addition to the articulation of tax incentives that enable the new productive phase. The company reported having received proposals from other states but stated that it remains interested in staying in the municipality, recognizing Marabá as a strategic point for strengthening its operations.

On the other hand, G. Pires Araújo operates in the valorization of industrial waste, focusing on the recovery of electric arc furnace dust, with zinc content and metallurgical waste. The company also manufactures self-reducing briquettes — a technology that allows for the efficient reuse of these materials in the steelmaking process. Part of the waste used comes from Sinobras, a steel mill located in the Marabá district, which reinforces the integration between local industries and the commitment to practices aligned with the circular economy.
During the meeting, the company expressed interest in an already titled area in the district and sought information from the Company about the legal status of the land and the necessary procedures to facilitate its acquisition from the current owner. The Company will analyze the entire situation of the land, evaluating legal and documentary aspects, in order to guide on the possibilities of acquisition within legality.
The engagement in dialogues and evaluations of opportunities are some of the strategic responsibilities of Codec, which involve both the prospecting of areas for new enterprises and the monitoring of already established companies that wish to transfer ownership of the land. This way, the Company ensures the productive and regular use of spaces in industrial hubs, avoiding idle areas and promoting economic dynamism.
The meetings included the participation of the Director of Business Attraction and Investments of the Company (DAIN), Manoel Ibiapina; the Manager of Foreign Trade of DAIN, Eduardo Rodrigues; and the technical advisor of the Technical Directorate (DITEC), Sandra Moura. On this occasion, the team presented the legal procedures for the transfer and acquisition of areas in the industrial districts, guided the entrepreneurs on the necessary documentation, and reinforced the institutional support available to facilitate the proposals.
"Our role is precisely to offer the necessary support so that entrepreneurs can invest safely in Pará. Marabá is a strategic region, with consolidated infrastructure and industrial vocation. Codec is available to articulate the conditions that favor the permanence and growth of companies that generate jobs, income, and innovation," highlighted Director Manoel Ibiapina.
The initiatives reinforce Marabá's prominence as one of the main industrial hubs in Pará, attracting investments that enhance local production, generate jobs, and drive sustainable economic growth in the region.
