Government of Pará advances in sustainable economic development with support for family farming
Diversification and transformation of the State's productive base promotes income generation and job opportunities

The implementation of public policies aligned with sustainable economic development, aimed at boosting the regional market and making production chains more competitive — promoting job and income generation for the population — is among the priority guidelines of the Government of Pará.
In this context, the Executive Technical Committee and the Deliberative Council of the Fund for the Sustainable Development of the Productive Base of the State of Pará – Producer Credit, chaired by the Deputy Technical Secretary of the Secretariat of Economic Development, Mining and Energy (Sedeme), Carlos Ledo, met on June 30 and July 1 at the institution's headquarters. The agenda of the meeting included the analysis and approval of the financing request from the Cooperative of Family Farmers of the Municipality of São Miguel do Guamá – Coopasmig. The amount approved for the project was R$ 335,171.00 (three hundred thirty-five thousand, one hundred seventy-one reais), to be financed through the Producer Credit.
The Fund for the Sustainable Development of the Productive Base of the State of Pará – Producer Credit aims to finance economic ventures considered strategic for the development, diversification, and transformation of the state's productive base, promoting income generation and job opportunities.
The cooperative's project aims to modernize production processes, acquire raw materials, improve storage infrastructure, and implement solar energy systems. Additionally, it seeks to expand individual flour houses — currently characterized by low productivity — into a more efficient and collective production model, through the installation of a modern agro-industry. This new structure will meet rigorous quality standards, focusing on certification as a 100% organic product, valuing the family farmer.
About Coopasmig - Located in the rural area of the municipality of São Miguel do Guamá, in the Guamá Integration Region, Coopasmig's main activity is family farming, specializing in the cassava production chain. The cooperative verticalizes this production, transforming raw materials into derivatives such as flour, starch, tapioca flour, farofa, and other products typical of the regional culture. Currently, it has 43 active members, strengthening the local economy through community organization and the appreciation of traditional knowledge.
Furthermore, the cooperative intends to incorporate new productive technologies to the farmers in the region, through training in modern management techniques and the production of cassava derivatives, promoting environmental conservation and sustainable practices.

About Producer Credit - Producer Credit was established by State Law No. 6,345, of December 28, 2000, amended by State Law No. 8,383, of September 5, 2016, and regulated by State Decree No. 1,636, of November 11, 2016.
The definition of the policies for action and application of the fund's resources is the responsibility of the Deliberative Council, formed in a balanced manner by representatives of the Government of the State of Pará, through Sedeme and the State Secretariat of Agricultural Development and Fisheries (Sedap) - linked to Sedeme - and the company Vale S/A. The Council is advised by the Executive Technical Committee, also composed of representatives from the same entities.
The financial management of Producer Credit is carried out exclusively by the Bank of the State of Pará S/A – Banpará, which acts as the mandate holder in the operationalization of the resources.
The Deputy Secretary, Carlos Ledo, emphasized the importance of the council in outlining strategies and promoting the implementation of actions and projects aimed at strengthening the productive chains of Pará.
