State Government delivers occasional benefit to families in Belém
Granted for about three months, in the amount equivalent to a minimum wage per month, the benefit is offered to citizens and families who do not have the means to face adverse situations on their own.
The Government of Pará, through the State Secretariat for Social Assistance, Labor, Employment and Income (Seaster), provided, this Wednesday (02), six families in Belém with the delivery of the Occasional Benefit, ensuring immediate support to victims in vulnerable situations, after incidents that occurred in the capital. The delivery of the bank orders took place at the Seaster headquarters, in the Nazaré neighborhood, in Belém, by the head of the department, Inocêncio Gasparim, along with the team from the Directorate of Income, Citizenship and Combating Poverty (DRCCP).
The Occasional Benefits are provided for in the Organic Law of Social Assistance (Loas) and are offered to citizens and families who do not have the means to face adverse situations on their own, such as birth, death, temporary vulnerability or public calamity — circumstances that compromise the maintenance of life with dignity. The benefit is granted for about three months, in the amount equivalent to a minimum wage per month.
One of the beneficiaries, Sônia Maria, a resident of the Jurunas neighborhood in Belém, reported that a fire destroyed the two houses where her family lived. According to her, the benefit will be essential in this difficult time.
“I am here today because of the problem that occurred in my residence. Two houses were completely destroyed. My family was divided between these houses and the fire affected 10 people. This government help came at a good time for us,” reported the resident of Jurunas.
Only in 2024, the State Government has already allocated more than R$ 238 thousand in benefits for families affected by incidents throughout Pará. Of this total, approximately R$ 74 thousand were directed to families residing in the Metropolitan Region of Belém (RMB).
The housewife, Guiomarina Santos, residing in the Pedreira neighborhood in Belém, also received the benefit and highlighted the importance of this initiative. “Last year, a fire hit my house, and I do not have a job due to my health problems. So, the Government's initiative to offer this benefit is a great help for me and those who live with me,” said the housewife.
This action is part of the public policy of social protection implemented by Seaster, which works to guarantee rights and address emergency situations throughout Pará. The goal is to promote dignity, income security, and a fresh start for families in vulnerability, reaffirming the Government's commitment to increasingly humanized, efficient, and present social assistance.
“The Government of Pará is committed and acts prioritizing the population in situations of social vulnerability. This assistance is a guarantee that these families affected by these emergency situations have their chance to restart their lives with more dignity. The role of the State is precisely this: to provide the necessary support to all who need it and offer adequate conditions so that these difficulties are overcome in a short time,” emphasized Inocêncio Gasparim.
