First weekend of Operation Summer 2025 records over two thousand violations
The Department of Traffic of Pará (Detran) considers the number high and intensifies safety measures and guidelines on state roads

During the first weekend of Operation Summer, the State Department of Traffic (Detran) recorded 2,219 violations on the roads of Pará, between Friday (29) and Sunday (1st). This number is considered high by the agency, for the beginning of the school holidays. Despite the recklessness, there were no recorded fatalities in the 33 municipalities where Detran operates this July.
According to the partial survey by the Department's Inspection Coordination, most of the infractions were due to speeding and vehicles with overdue annual licensing; in the latter case, there were 735 occurrences on state highways, especially on the PA's leading to the district of Mosqueiro, Bragança, Salinópolis, and Alça Viária. As a result, at least 25 vehicles were towed to the agency's retention park.

Driving a vehicle with overdue licensing is a serious infraction, according to the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB). The fine is R$ 293.47, and the vehicle is seized and removed by the agency. Additionally, the driver receives 7 points on their driver's license.
On the Detran website (www.detran.pa.gov.br), owners can check the annual calendar and verify the vehicle's license plate ending, as well as the date when the licensing will expire. Detran warns that drivers should not travel before checking the status of their car or motorcycle documents and should seek to regularize in time to hit the road. It also informs that during the operation there will be regularization points at the inspection service stations.
The habit of driving under the influence of alcohol was also a recurring infraction during the first weekend of the Operation. From Friday to Sunday, 7 people were fined for driving while intoxicated, and 12 refused to take the breathalyzer test. Another 6 drivers were arrested for alcohol-related crimes, 4 of them in Salinópolis.
Operation Summer has more than 300 Detran agents in the municipalities where the Department already operates with a fixed team and also with agents on a reinforcement schedule in the most sought-after destinations by vacationers. The goal is to ensure fluidity and safety in traffic.
“Summer is just beginning; it is important that drivers and passengers observe traffic rules and drive prudently so that it is a month of fun without risk to the lives of those on the roads,” notes the inspection coordinator, Ivan Feitosa.
