Pará registers best June and over 59% reduction in crime
With a significant reduction in crime over seven years, resulting from the integration of security forces and strong investments, the state presents the best June since 2010 and preserves over 1,200 lives.

The reduction of Violent Intentional Lethal Crimes (CVLI) - which includes homicide, femicide, robbery followed by death, and bodily injury resulting in death - has been a highlight of Public Safety in Pará. Over seven years, including the first six months of 2025, Pará has seen a 59.50% reduction in CVLI records compared to the same period in 2018. The numbers represent a total of 1,281 preserved lives in Pará. The data was released on Tuesday morning by the Secretary of Public Safety and Social Defense (Segup), through the Deputy Secretary of Intelligence and Criminal Analysis (Siac).
As the numbers indicate, the state had the best June and also the second-best month in the entire historical series since 2010, only losing to February of this year. With these data, Pará closes the first half of 2025 with an 11% reduction compared to the first half of 2024.

"The data shows us how much the state has reduced crime over seven years, maintaining a consistent decline in violent intentional lethal crimes, where we can see that every month we record lower numbers in the historical line, and this has only been possible due to the strong investments that the state has been making in public safety since the beginning of our management. Our initial commitment was to place Pará in a prominent position in the fight against crime, and we are achieving that. All of this is the result of integrated work among the state's security forces that operate strategically to keep the state with increasingly lower rates, and above all, preserving Pará lives," emphasized the head of the Secretary of Public Safety of Pará, Ualame Machado.

Accumulated numbers - From January to June, considering the year 2018, there were 2,153 cases of CVLIs registered in the state. In 2025, 872 cases were recorded, representing a 59.50% reduction in crimes, and also the preservation of 1,281 lives during this period. In comparison with the same period of 2024, 973 cases of the crime were recorded. The numbers indicate a reduction of 10.38% of cases throughout Pará.
June - Considering the month of June 2018, from the 1st to the 30th, there were 350 cases of CVLIs registered. In the same period of 2025, 145 cases were recorded, thus appearing as the best number recorded in 15 years, since 2010. In June 2024, 156 cases were recorded, representing an 11% reduction in crime throughout the state.

For the commander of the Military Police of Pará (PMPA), Colonel Dilson Júnior, the decrease in violent crimes represents more tranquility for the population.
"The accumulated reduction in the semester is the result of a combination of factors, such as the reinforcement of ostensive policing, the adoption of monitoring technologies, and the intensification of integrated operations among municipal, state, and federal security forces, combined with the state's commitment to prioritize public safety," highlighted Colonel Dilson Júnior.

The general delegate of the Civil Police, Raimundo Benassuly, highlights the agility in resolving crimes, which contributes to the numbers presented by the state. "The Civil Police has intensified operational actions throughout the state, based on intelligence and qualified investigation. Our commitment is to combat crime firmly, through planned operations and strategic action, ensuring more security and tranquility for the population," explains Raimundo Benassuly, general delegate of the Civil Police.
