The colors, rhythms, and traditions of the people of Pará transformed the center of Belém into a large stage of popular culture on the morning of this Sunday (29), with the realization of the third Arrastão do Pavulagem of 2025. The procession, filled with straw hats, banners, and colorful ribbons from the Batalhão da Estrela, gathered a crowd that followed the route from Avenida Presidente Vargas to Praça Waldemar Henrique, in the Reduto neighborhood.

The program began with the traditional Roda Cantada, in front of Theatro da Paz, marking the moment of concentration for the participants. Special mention goes to the special participation of master Laurene Ataíde from the Outeiro district, who represented the Cordão de Pássaro Colibri.

“It is wonderful for us and for our children when the Arraial brings cultural manifestations together to show who we are, especially the June birds. This values the popular culture of Pará,” said the master.

The procession also featured the Boi de Rodas from the Associação Bem Viver from the municipality of Santa Luzia do Pará, with significant participation from the public, who mingled with the participants in a festive and traditional atmosphere.

According to the Secretary of State for Culture, Ursula Vidal, the event represents a moment of profound celebration of Pará's cultural identity. “The Arraial do Pavulagem lights up our June period with this great procession of popular culture, which values our masters, mistresses, and rhythms. It is very gratifying to see how the population responds with joy to this collective call,” she highlighted.

Upon arriving at Praça Waldemar Henrique, the audience was welcomed by the sound of the Arraial do Pavulagem band, with special performances by singer Kim Marques and singers Valéria Paiva and Vittória Braun.

For university student Jhunyfer Silva, the Arrastão is a manifestation that strengthens Pará's identity. “It is a very important cultural movement. I try to be present at least once a year to honor and value this expression that is so ours.”

The last Arrastão do Pavulagem of 2025 will be next Sunday, July 6, with concentration starting at 8 am, in front of Theatro da Paz, at Praça da República.

Realization

The Arrastão do Pavulagem is an initiative of the Instituto Arraial do Pavulagem, sponsored by Equatorial Energia, through the Semear Law, from the Government of Pará, through the Fundação Cultural do Pará. It also has the support of the Secretary of State for Culture, the City Hall of Belém, and various cultural partners.
