More than 500 riverine families benefit from 'Your House' in the last six years
The benefit ensures dignified housing for families and contributes to the local economy by purchasing materials and paying for labor
The Government of Pará, through the Housing Company of Pará (Cohab), has benefited more than 500 riverine families with the housing program Your House in the last six years, especially families from the Marajó Integration Region. Through the program, families achieve dignified housing, and the financial aid also contributes to the local economy by purchasing construction materials and paying for the labor of masons.
In Marajó, the fisherwoman Maria de Nazaré Monteiro, a resident of São Sebastião da Boa Vista, received the benefit and celebrated. “For the first time, I will have a good house, I will make a living room, two bedrooms, to provide comfort for my family. Today my house is made of wood and part was taken by the high tide,” she said emotionally.
The housing aid Your House can reach up to R$ 21,000 when it is allocated to families with people with disabilities (PCD). The director-president of Cohab, Manoel Pioneiro, emphasizes that Your House offers housing solutions for groups with specific needs, such as riverine communities, which have the opportunity to build new housing units, make renovations, or expansions with the construction of more rooms, bathrooms, septic tanks, among others.
“It is the Government of Pará allowing families in vulnerable situations to have dignified housing, and it is important to highlight that within the assistance to riverine communities, Cohab also pays special attention to women victims of scalping accidents caused by boat motor shafts, so that they can rebuild their lives with better housing,” details Pioneiro.
