Oriximiná Regional Hospital is a reference for medium and high complexity care in the Northern Corridor
The unit stands out for its agility in care, humanized reception, and resolution of complex surgical cases in Western Pará
The Oriximiná Menino Jesus Regional Hospital (HRMJ) has been consolidating itself as one of the main references in public health in the Northern Corridor region, in western Pará. In just eight months of full operation, the unit has stood out for its agility in care, humanized reception, and the resolution of complex surgical cases.
Among the patients treated is Elias Chagas da Silva, 45 years old, a resident of Alenquer, who faced a severe skin infection and needed to undergo four surgical procedures. “I went through the ICU, had a very aggressive bacteria on my skin, and needed four surgeries,” Elias reported.
According to the surgeon Arthur Oliveira, responsible for the case, the patient presented a nodule in the dorsal region (back) that evolved into an abscess and required multiple surgical approaches. “It was a case that demanded complex care and successive interventions. The most important thing in cases like this is the follow-up in the postoperative period, with attention to possible bleeding, infections, and other complications,” explained the professional.
According to him, in addition to technical mastery and anatomical knowledge, the general surgeon needs to be prepared to make quick and individualized decisions, always prioritizing the patient's well-being. “It is essential to know how to assess which approach is safer, choose the appropriate dressings, and ensure a quality recovery environment,” he emphasized.
Humanized regulation and regional care - The good performance of the Oriximiná Regional Hospital is also reflected in the efficiency of the Internal Regulation Center (NIR), responsible for ensuring quick and organized transfers between municipalities in the Northern Corridor.
This was the case of Izaias Felix da Silva, 49 years old, also from Alenquer. After suffering a traffic accident, he was transferred in less than 48 hours to the HRMJ Admission Unit. “I was very well received by the team. I felt privileged by the care I received from the moment I arrived,” said Izaias.
The unit provides comprehensive and free care to patients from the Unified Health System (SUS), coming from municipalities such as Almeirim, Curuá, Faro, Juruti, Monte Alegre, Óbidos, Prainha, and Terra Santa, in addition to Oriximiná. There are also cases referred from other regions of the state.
Structure and specialties - With a modern structure, HRMJ has 26 inpatient beds and an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), as well as 16 reception beds for initial care. The unit offers services in seven medical specialties: anesthesiology, cardiology, general surgery, gynecology, orthopedics, traumatology, and intensive medicine.
The integrated action between medical, assistance, and regulation teams has ensured the population of the Northern Corridor access to a more agile, qualified, and humanized public health — and strengthened the role of HRMJ as a reference hospital for the region.
