State tax inspectors from the Secretary of State of Finance (Sefa) seized, on Sunday (22), 49 tons of soybeans, valued at R$ 113,044.70. The officials are assigned to the Coordination of Control of Goods in Transit of Carajás, in the southeast of the State.

“During an inspection carried out at the tax post of the Carajás Railway, in Marabá, a vehicle transporting goods from Santa Maria das Barreiras to the municipality of Paragominas was stopped. After document analysis and cross-referencing information in the Sefa system, it was found that the operation was a shipment destined for the state of Maranhão. Although the taxpayer issued a tax document destined for Paragominas, the Electronic Transport Knowledge (CTE) indicated that the unloading would be in São Luís-MA, characterizing the operation as interstate,” informed the unit coordinator, Cicinato Oliveira.

Due to the irregularity, a Term of Seizure and Deposit (TAD) was issued, with a total value of ICMS and fine of R$ 18,991.50.

Gurupi – At the Coordination of Control of Goods in Transit in Gurupi, on BR-316 Highway, Km 280, in Cachoeira do Piriá, 1,728 plastic items were seized.

“The transporter presented several invoices for plastic items originating from Caucaia-CE and destined for cities in Pará, such as Cametá, Tucuruí, Xinguara, São João do Araguaia, and Marabá, intended for individuals. The inspection decided to open the vehicle for physical verification of the cargo and found 1,728 plastic items, such as tables, chairs, baskets, and bowls, in addition to pressure cookers. Due to the substantial quantity of goods, the commercial intent was characterized, thus subject to the collection of the state tax, ICMS at the border, as determined by legislation,” clarified coordinator Gustavo Bozola.

The cargo, valued at R$ 40,773.34, was retained and seven Terms of Seizure and Deposit (TADs) were issued, with a total value of R$ 10,845.72, regarding the tax and fine.
