The Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense (Segup), through the integrated action of the 'Candiru' River Base in Óbidos, Lower Amazon region, arrested a suspect on Thursday (19) for transporting 6.6 kg of drugs, marijuana and Oxi, during a journey on a boat heading to Belém. The individual is at the disposal of the Justice.

The seizure and arrest resulted from an action carried out on Thursday afternoon during a routine inspection of the ferryboat 'San Marino II', originating from Manaus (AM), where agents noticed a passenger with suspicious behavior. The police action involved the River Group, along with teams from the Military Police, Civil Police, Fire Department, and Federal Revenue.

With the help of the sniffer dog 'Tupã', the searches began, and in a suitcase with a false bottom, about 5 bricks of a substance similar to Skank marijuana weighing 5.3 kg and one brick appearing to be Oxi weighing 1.3 kg were found. A sum of money was also found with the suspect. In light of the facts, the material was seized and the suspect was taken to the police authority of the Integrated Base for the necessary procedures.

"This is yet another seizure made by the teams from the bases, among several already carried out, which demonstrates the need for this strategy of inspections on the rivers of Pará," emphasizes the director of the River Group, Colonel PM José Vilhena.

“The recent drug seizures demonstrate the commitment and effectiveness of our team in combating drug trafficking in our region. We will continue to invest joint efforts to further strengthen our inspection actions and ensure that the law is upheld in every corner of our State,” he reinforced.
