Civil Police closes clandestine weapons factory in the Jurunas neighborhood in Belém
The space operated in the back of a barbershop, and the owner of the establishment was arrested in flagrante for illegal trade and possession of a firearm

The Civil Police of Pará launched Operation "Final Cut" on the morning of this Wednesday (18), which resulted in the discovery of a handmade weapons factory, clandestinely installed in the back of a barbershop in the Jurunas neighborhood in Belém. At the time, the owner of the establishment was arrested in flagrante.

The police action was coordinated by the team from the Division of Child and Adolescent Care (DATA), a unit linked to the Directorate for the Care of Vulnerable Groups (DAV). "The investigations began after a report of domestic violence against a teenager who was threatened with a firearm. Through the deepening of the investigations, it was possible to verify that the weapon in question was acquired from an establishment that manufactured and sold firearms. Based on this information, a search and seizure warrant was requested and authorized for the property, and on this Wednesday, when we executed the warrant, we found the operation of a structure intended for the handmade manufacture of firearms, weapon molds, and equipment used in the manufacturing process," explained delegate Theo Schüler, director of DATA.

Understand the case:
The investigations began after a report from a teenager, stating that her ex-boyfriend had threatened her with a firearm in January of this year. Since then, several actions have been initiated to fully investigate the facts, leading to the information that the weapon used in the threats came from a clandestine weapons factory.
"After the investigations and the evidence collected, the DATA teams legally represented for the issuance of a search and seizure warrant, which was granted and executed this morning. At the indicated location, situated in the Jurunas neighborhood, we managed to seize a repeating carbine, a repeating rifle, two shotguns, a toy gun, three shotgun stocks, two weapon magazines, two shotgun grips, restricted-use ammunition, and a cell phone," said the director of DAV, delegate Emanuela Amorim.

Materials used in the manufacture of weapons such as a grinder, saw, and welding machine were also found and seized. The arrested individual, who will be charged with illegal trade of firearms and possession of restricted-use firearms, was taken to DATA, where standard procedures were carried out, and is at the disposal of the Judiciary.

The operation represents a joint effort to combat not only domestic violence and crimes against children and adolescents but also the illicit supply of weapons that fuel local crime and invariably affect the most vulnerable segments of society, highlighting the commitment of the Civil Police of Pará to the comprehensive protection of children and adolescents and the fight against highly dangerous criminals.
