Pará reaches the mark of 78 municipalities on the Brazilian Tourism Map
Inclusion increases the visibility of destinations and enhances investments in infrastructure, training, and tourism promotion in Pará
The State Secretariat for Tourism of Pará (Setur) ensured the inclusion of 14 municipalities in the Brazilian Tourism Map, consolidating the presence of 78 cities from Pará in the planning and strengthening instrument of public policies in the sector. This measure represents an important advance within the Tourism Regionalization Program (PRT), promoted in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism (MTur), and reinforces the state government's commitment to consolidating Pará as a strategic destination in the Amazon.
Among the municipalities that renewed their presence on the Map are Belterra (Tourist Region of Baixo Tapajós), Bom Jesus do Tocantins (Carajás), Ananindeua (Belém), Breu Branco and Jacundá (Tucuruí Lake), Castanhal and Marapanim (Atlantic Amazon Guamá), Santa Maria das Barreiras (Araguaia), Soure (Marajó Fields), and Tomé-Açu and Ulianópolis (Capim). Also achieving their first inclusion are Vigia (Atlantic Amazon Guamá), Capanema (Atlantic Amazon Caeté), and Nova Ipixuna (Tucuruí Lake), opening new development opportunities for these destinations.
"The Tourism Map is a seal that proves the tourism management capacity of the municipalities and their readiness to receive investments. These 14 new registrations represent the integrated work between the State and local managers, who have been diligently dedicated to structuring tourism in their regions," highlighted the Secretary of Tourism of Pará, Eduardo Costa.
Being on the Map is essential for municipalities to access public policies from the Ministry of Tourism, such as resources for urban infrastructure works, cultural events, training, tourism promotion, and other strategic actions. The inclusion also helps to increase the visibility of Pará's destinations among operators, travel agents, and investors in the sector.
The coordination to ensure the adherence of Pará's cities to the Tourism Map is managed by the Structuring of Tourist Destinations Management of Setur, which provides technical assistance through the State Program for Support to Municipal Tourism Management. The agency monitors all stages of the registration and validation process, from guidance to managers to the approval of information in the Brazilian Tourism Map Information System (Sismapa), before the official publication by MTur.
According to Hugo Almeida, manager of Structuring of Tourist Destinations at Setur and state interlocutor of the Tourism Regionalization Program, the success of the initiative reflects the joint effort between the state government, municipal tourism secretariats, regional interlocutors, and municipal councils. "This collective effort strengthens tourism as a vector of economic development, income generation, and appreciation of regional identity," he stated.
The inclusion of municipalities in the Tourism Map requires compliance with a series of requirements established by MTur Ordinance No. 9/2025, such as the existence of a municipal body responsible for tourism, specific budget allocation for the area, the maintenance of an active Municipal Tourism Council, and the registration of tourism service providers in Cadastur. The registration is valid for one year and can be requested at any time, with renewal allowed starting 30 days before expiration.
What is the Brazilian Tourism Map?
The Brazilian Tourism Map is a tool of the Tourism Regionalization Program (PRT), coordinated by the Ministry of Tourism, which identifies municipalities with minimum structure and organization to develop tourism activities continuously and strategically.
This classification allows the federal government to define investment priorities and actions in territories that present tourism potential and active management. For states and municipalities, being on the Map is synonymous with institutional recognition, access to federal resources, visibility in the market, and appreciation of tourism as a structuring economic activity.
