From Monday (16) until next Friday (20), the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Pará (Emater) is contributing to the discussions on sustainable development in federal agrarian reform settlements in Pará, as part of the II National Meeting of the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Training Program for Agrarian Reform Settlements (Profor-Ext).

With the theme "Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Ater) as Strategies for Adapting to Climate Change: a necessary debate for agrarian reform settlements at COP30 (30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change)," the event is promoted by the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture (MDA) and the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (Incra), at the Belém campus of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA).

In Pará, Profor is led by UFPA and the Federal Rural University of the Amazon (Ufra). In her opening speech at the ceremony, Emater's operations coordinator, environmental engineer Camila Salim, a specialist in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development in the Amazon and a master's degree holder in Environmental Sciences, highlighted the agroecology guideline and commitment to traditional communities and indigenous peoples of public Ater conducted by the Government of Pará, through Emater.

"We reaffirm that the assistance to agrarian reform settlers and also to the peoples of the forests, the waters, to quilombolas, to indigenous peoples, and the integration of public policies is above all a collective construction. Profor-Ex Ater is the result of attentive listening to realities. As Emater, we are here to dialogue, improve practices, and strengthen partnerships," said Camila Salim.

According to data from Emater's Planning Coordination (Cplan), in Pará, about 500 federal settlements are assisted with the issuance of national family agriculture registrations (cafs) and targeted support to productive chains, among other actions.
