In Salinópolis, the Government of Pará certifies 250 people through the Capacita COP30 Program
More than 22,000 people have already been trained in the areas of tourism, gastronomy, infrastructure, and security, in preparation for the UN Climate Conference

The Government of Pará certified 250 people through the Capacita COP 30 program in Salinópolis, in the northeast of the state, on Saturday (14). Since the program began in May 2024, more than 22,000 people have been trained in the segments of tourism, gastronomy, infrastructure, and security, preparing the people of Pará to host the United Nations Climate Conference (COP 30), which will be held in November 2025 in Belém.
This is the second certification of the program held in the municipality of Salinópolis, totaling more than 500 properly trained individuals. Although the initiative targets the period of COP30, the knowledge acquired by local residents can already be tested in July, during the high season in the coastal area, as emphasized by the program coordinator, Andrey Rabelo.

“These are strategically chosen courses for the region, to elevate the quality of services at this moment of pre-summer and also for the actual summer. We hope that the Capacita COP 30 program has achieved its success here, and we will continue.”
“I took the digital marketing course, and it was wonderful for us to have a different perspective, a new vision related to our establishment's page, and our approach to how to promote our dishes, so it was very good. I also took the basic English course, and now I have at least some idea of how to welcome a foreign customer without feeling too lost. The state government deserves congratulations in this regard for the training,” said Martha Vieira, who, along with her family, manages her own restaurant on Atalaia Beach in Salinas.

The certification involved courses in Application Training for Hosting, Digital Marketing, Digital Influencer, Basic English, Waiter and Waitress Training, Food Hygiene and Handling, Entrepreneurship, and Excellence in Service. Accompanied by her son, Adriane Figueiredo took four of the eight courses offered in the municipality at this stage.
“This represents many good things; it is the opportunity to gain more advanced knowledge that only enhances my skills during this period that I completed this course. I am very grateful to be here graduating alongside my son, who is already my business partner. I hope that COP 30 will be a moment of many open doors,” said Adriane, who sells cosmetics.

At 64 years old, Margareth Menezes shared that she transformed a moment of need into art several years ago. When she needed to collect seashells on Atalaia Beach to survive, she also discovered the possibility of making crafts with the protective shells of mollusks. Today, with her art established in the village of Jericoacoara, Ceará, the entrepreneur returns to her hometown, Salinópolis, with the aim of showcasing the beauty of bio-jewelry and other items made from marine elements and saw the Digital Influencer course offered by the Capacita COP 30 Program as a way to start promoting her products.
“After raising my children and establishing myself as an entrepreneur in Jericoacoara, I decided to return because one day I thought Salinas was too small for me, and nowadays I say that Salinas is the place to be. I am returning to Salinas to show what I learned out there; one day I went and showcased the culture of Pará, and now I am returning with all this potential for different crafts, which are fish scales. And with what I learned in the course, I will be able to show how I do it, teach others that it is possible to take the shells from the beach and scales, which would be discarded, and transform them into a luxury and sustainable item.”

Certifications - The Government of Pará has achieved the milestone of 22,000 certifications through the Capacita COP30 program in one year, which offers free qualification and professional training courses in the areas of tourism, gastronomy, infrastructure, and security. The initiative prepares women and men to work in the job market and seize opportunities with the realization of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), which will be held in November this year in Belém.
New platforms – With the success of the program's demand, the government of Pará has also launched platforms that assist those seeking job opportunities and those intending to collaborate with the event in November.
The “COP30 Professionals” is a digital tool that functions as a sort of resume bank, where those qualified through Capacita COP30 can register. At the same time, companies in the tourism, hospitality, services, and gastronomy sectors can also register on the app to select and hire professionals. According to Andrey Rabelo, the program coordinator, the platform already records more than 250 registrations among certified individuals and companies interested in labor.
Meanwhile, the “COP30 Volunteers” is a partnership between the Federal Government and the State Government, through Sectet, aimed at promoting qualified citizen participation in one of the most relevant global events of the year, involving sustainability, international cooperation, and the construction of social and environmental legacy.
