UsiPaz in Capanema is a reference in social assistance, citizenship, and security
Government delivers the 14th unit of the largest social transformation project in Latin America, with over 70 free services and assistance to the community
Capanema, in northeastern Pará, now has a new reference in free services and assistance with the arrival of the first Usina da Paz in the municipality. The 14th unit of the largest social transformation, citizenship, and public safety project in Latin America was delivered to the population this Saturday (14).
The new Usina da Paz in Capanema, the first unit in the Caeté region, will serve over 70,000 residents of the municipality with more than 70 services and assistance available to the community, in the areas of education, culture, sports, social assistance, professional training, health, and citizenship.
“This is a historic moment, where we have the privilege of delivering the largest social transformation equipment in Latin America here in Capanema. We are starting the services that this Usina will offer. Starting Monday (16), the Usina da Paz Capanema will be fully operational so that the services can be available to the city. We will have our doors open for the families of Capanema to come here every day. We are showing Brazil that, through citizenship and social justice, you improve people's lives and ensure peace,” said the governor of Pará, Helder Barbalho.
Second home - For the vice governor of Pará, Hana Ghassan, the Usina da Paz, starting today, becomes the “second home” of the community. “I am very happy to be here. This equipment is more than a building. It is an instrument of transformation. The Usina is a factory of opportunities, which will be the second home of the community, as in all the other units we have delivered so far. We are here delivering this Usina to Capanema, which from today on, belongs to the population. The Usina is 100% free, and anyone who wants can come and enroll in the services that will be offered. May this be a place of many blessings in the lives of the families of Capanema,” emphasized the vice governor of Pará.
The mayor of Capanema, Claudionor Moreira da Costa, thanked for the installation of the new citizenship complex delivered by the Government of Pará in the municipality. “Thank you very much for bringing this important instrument that will help our population a lot. During my childhood, I did not have this opportunity that our population will now have. This project is unique in Brazil and is now here in Capanema,” said the municipal manager.
Structure - Located in the Jardim América Residential Area, the UsiPaz of Capanema has a large modern structure, with rooms equipped for medical and dental care, document issuance, vocational courses, social assistance, as well as other spaces such as a sports gym, libraries, computer and music rooms, swimming pool, open court, multicultural square, among other facilities.
“The delivery of the Usina da Paz in Capanema represents more than a completed project. It represents the commitment of the Government of Pará to inclusion, dignity, and social transformation. We are very happy to see this structure ready to serve the people of Capanema and the region,” declared the State Secretary of Citizenship Articulation, Elieth Braga.
Benefits for the population - The social worker Cristieli Uchoa took advantage of Saturday to get to know the facilities of the new Usina da Paz and said she was happy about the arrival of the state citizenship complex in the city. “This is a moment of happiness for our neighborhood and our city to be receiving such a grand project as this. The Usina da Paz will bring many benefits to our community, especially for the most needy, who need courses and services. I am happy,” said Cristieli.
The painter Hamilton Nascimento is a neighbor of the new complex and stated that the expectation was high for the delivery of the public equipment. “Now we are seeing that development is coming to our city of Capanema. I believe that the population will come in droves to the Usina, including me. I have my profession, but knowledge is never too much, so I want to participate in the courses that will be offered here. Before, many people had to go to Belém and Castanhal to get some services. Now we will have it here at the Usina da Paz.”
Usinas da Paz - The Usinas da Paz are citizenship complexes implemented by the State Government to promote social inclusion, reduce violence, and improve the quality of life of the population in vulnerable areas of the State.
The project is part of the Territories for Peace program (TerPaz). Since 2021, with the delivery of the first Usina da Paz, the citizenship complexes have already guaranteed over 9.3 million services.
In the context of public safety, the Usinas also contribute to significant reductions in the rates of Intentional Violent Lethal Crimes (CVLI) in the areas where they are located, with percentages reaching a 90% decrease, indicating effectiveness in promoting public safety and improving quality of life.
More Usinas - The Usina da Paz Capanema joins 13 other units already in full operation, in Belém (Jurunas/Condor, Guamá, Terra Firme, Bengui, and Cabanagem); in the municipalities of Ananindeua, Marituba, Benevides, and Castanhal, in the Metropolitan Region; Abaetetuba, in the Lower Tocantins, and Marabá, Parauapebas, and Canaã dos Carajás, in southeastern Pará.
Only in 2025, the State Government has already delivered the Usinas da Paz in Benevides, Castanhal, Marabá, and Abaetetuba, directly benefiting over 684,000 people in the four cities.
Another 23 new UsiPaz are under construction in the cities of Altamira, Bragança, Cametá, Paragominas, Tucuruí, Santa Izabel do Pará, Redenção, Itaituba, Santarém, Viseu, Igarapé-Miri, Barcarena, Breves, Dom Eliseu, São Miguel do Guamá, Portel, Moju, Parauapebas (second Usina), Óbidos, Salinópolis, Tomé-Açu, São Félix do Xingu, and Belém, in the Icoaraci district. Other units will also be announced soon.
Service - Next Monday (16), starting at 8 am, the new citizenship complex in Capanema will open its doors to welcome the community and begin registrations for the available courses and activities. The Usina da Paz is located in the Jardim América Residential Area, Rua 10, quadra 32.
