The State continues to accumulate reductions in crime indicators

In the latest survey of the Public Security Map 2025, released by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP), the State of Pará advanced in the fight against crime in 2024, saving lives and increasing the number of drug seizures. The study is produced from data sent by the states and the Federal District, through Sinesp (National Public Security Information System).
The MJSP study takes into account the base year 2024 compared to the data from 2023. According to the Map, in 2024, Pará recorded a 15% reduction in the number of intentional homicides, contributing to the North Region showing the largest percentage reduction compared to other regions of the country and also aligning with the national index.

In 2024, between January and December, there were 2,084 homicides, about 361 fewer than in 2023 with 2,445 cases. In 2024, the homicide rate in Pará was 24.05 per 100,000 inhabitants. According to the Map, Pará also showed the second variation in marijuana seizures (75.68%) among the Northern states. In this indicator, the North Region accounted for almost 48% of seizures in Brazil, being the largest percentage increase recorded among the regions.
Last year, Pará totaled 13 tons of drugs (marijuana and cocaine), an increase of 44.6% compared to 2023, when the set of operations totaled 9.1 tons of seized narcotics.

For the Secretary of Public Security and Social Defense, acting Colonel PM Sérgio Neves, the results achieved in 2024 are the result of the integration of security forces, the use of intelligence and technologies, and numerous investments from the Government of Pará throughout the year.
“The results of the Public Security Map 2025 reflect the continuous effort and commitment of the State in combating crime. The 15% reduction in the total number of intentional homicides and the 75% increase in marijuana seizures in 2024 are positive indicators that demonstrate the effectiveness of our integrated strategies and actions. We will continue to intensify our actions, seeking to further improve our strategies and strengthen the partnership with civil society,” he pointed out.
