Classic show 'Beauty and the Beast' presented at the Church of Santo Alexandre
More than 80 students from the Carlos Gomes State Institute perform the musical production promoted by the Carlos Gomes Foundation

The Carlos Gomes Foundation will hold the musical show Beauty and the Beast on June 16 and 17 at the Church of Santo Alexandre, at 7 PM, with free admission, subject to maximum audience capacity. The story of the characters from the tale will be presented, based on a free adaptation, by students from the extension projects of the Carlos Gomes State Institute.
Beauty and the Beast is one of the cherished fantasy storylines valued by both adults and children. This year, as part of the activities of the extension projects of the Carlos Gomes Symphony Orchestra and Opera Studio, the audience will be able to watch the story of Beauty and the Beast, with a text adapted by the Pará writer Bárbara Gibson.

According to Pedro Messias, coordinator of the participating extension projects, the work is part of the training activities for the students and will contribute to their learning of the methodological process of a musical production.
"This is the first time the work will be presented by the students of the institution. We will have more than 80 students on stage acting as instrumentalists, singers, and dancers, with the main goal being their academic training," Pedro, who also serves as the general director of the show, reveals.
"The preparation process for the presentation is designed to address the production challenges that each group needs to master. The orchestra must play a large volume of music, with pieces organized for different moments of the staged story, in addition to dealing with the stylistic challenge of the language of a musical production. For the students of the Opera Studio, the main challenge is the technical demands and aesthetic depth that the scenic and choreographic parts require," explains the professor.

Cello student Sara Cruz (18) is part of the Carlos Gomes Symphony Orchestra of IECG and will perform in the Beauty and the Beast show. The young woman shares her excitement for the presentation at the Church of Santo Alexandre. "I watched the animated version of the tale and I'm excited for the day; we are studying the music a lot. My family is also happy to know they will be able to watch me play in a production like this," says an enthusiastic Sara, who is taking the Technical Course in Music at IECG.
For the superintendent of the Carlos Gomes Foundation, Gabriel Titan, offering students the opportunity to participate in major productions, such as those developed in the concerts of the Carlos Gomes Symphony Orchestra and in the productions of the Opera Studio, "creates the foundations for a more complete education, as such productions require a lot of preparation, rehearsals, and responsibility from the students," says Titan. "Students can thus learn by doing, and when they perform professionally, they will be able to offer the technical quality that the artistic market demands," concludes the superintendent of FCG.
