Police of Pará seizes over 4 kg of drugs hidden in appliances during operation in Juruti
The action of Operation Sucuri Verde also resulted in the arrest of a fugitive from justice who would receive the shipment in Santarém
The Military Police of Pará, through the Regional Policing Command I (CPR I) and with the action of the 18th Battalion, carried out an important drug seizure in the municipality of Juruti, in the Lower Amazon region, during Operation Sucuri Verde, this Wednesday (11).
The inspection teams approached a vessel traveling the route Manaus (AM) – Santarém (PA), transporting 160 passengers and 15 crew members. During an inspection of the cargo area, the police identified a strong odor characteristic of narcotics. Given the suspicion, two packages were opened, and inside were found four bricks of a substance similar to skunk, totaling 4.3 kilograms.
The drugs were hidden inside a vacuum cleaner and an air fryer, in an attempt to evade inspection.
According to information passed to the police, the package was to be picked up in Santarém by an individual using a false identity. The suspect, a fugitive from justice, was traveling on another vessel with the same destination. He was located and arrested by PM teams at Base Candiru, also in Santarém.
Operation Sucuri Verde's main objective is to combat drug trafficking along the waterways of the Amazon, often used by criminal organizations to transport narcotics between the states of the Northern region.
