The State Council on Drugs (Coned), linked to the State Secretariat of Justice (Seju), held an ordinary meeting on Tuesday (10) to evaluate reports from oversight visits to therapeutic communities in the municipalities of the Araguaia Integration Region. The councilors also discussed the programming of the Pará Drug Use Prevention Week, scheduled to start at the end of August.

The communities monitored in the region showed compliance with most of the recommendations made by the Council, with the exception of the conditions for storing documentation in the space. On this occasion, the 2nd vice-president of Coned, Renata Hage, emphasized the importance of observing deadlines and conditions for presenting the report of the oversight visits.

Renata Hage also reported her participation, as a representative of Coned, in the Public Consultation of the Northeast region on the National Drug Plan, held on the 4th of this month in Teresina, Piauí. She highlighted the collaboration in the axis of Participatory Governance and Coordination with Councils, emphasizing the importance of observing regional specificities in drug prevention. “In this sense, there is a convergence of ideas and proposals from the North and Northeast regions for updating the national document,” she stated.

The meeting also deliberated on the new date for the Pará Week for Combating and Preventing Drug Use. The event, which takes place annually from June 20 to 26, had been rescheduled in the previous meeting to August to ensure effective participation from the school community during the adapted school calendar for the COP 30 event in Belém.

The councilors updated the new date for the Pará Week for Combating and Preventing Drug Use to August 27 to September 2. The choice of the new period strengthens joint efforts with the Municipal Drug Prevention Week of the municipality of Santarém, which involves the participation of the Secretariat of Justice and Coned, and also coincides with the Month of Citizenship in the state schools' calendar, promoting greater engagement from the school community.
