The Regional Hospital of Tapajós (HRT), through its Humanization Commission, carried out a special action on Tuesday (10) aimed at the 47 elderly residents at the Municipal Shelter of Itaituba, in the southwest of Pará. The initiative offered various health services, wellness activities, and integration activities, reinforcing the hospital's commitment to humanized care for the local population.

The program included blood pressure measurement, rapid tests, haircuts, medical consultations, workplace gymnastics with physiotherapy students, as well as moments of music, dance, and conversation circles with the elderly.

Fabiane Costa Ferreira, coordinator of the shelter unit, highlighted the importance of the visit for the shelter's residents. “This type of visit is of utmost importance for the users, because they interact with people through the dynamics. Often, for them, just talking and having a different presence is enough,” she stated.

The humanization analyst at the Regional Hospital of Tapajós, Maria de Lourdes, emphasized the relevance of outreach activities as a way to expand access to health and strengthen ties with the community.

“Actions like this ensure that the Regional Hospital of Tapajós is increasingly close to the community, promoting humanized care, active listening, and respect for people's dignity,” she said.

The doctor responsible for the consultations during the action, Alana Tavares, also highlighted the benefits of direct follow-up at the shelter unit. “Since many are elderly and have mobility difficulties, it is much more effective to provide care right here at the shelter, with comfort and full attention,” she explained.

Humanization is a permanent guideline of the State Department of Public Health of Pará (Sespa), present in the activities of the Regional Hospital of Tapajós, which is a reference in medium and high complexity care in the western part of the state.

Managed by the Social Institute Mais Saúde, in partnership with the State Department of Public Health (Sespa), the Regional Hospital of Tapajós belongs to the Government of Pará and continues to advance in the quality of assistance to the population of southwestern Pará.
