The Economic Development Company of Pará (Codec) continued its institutional agenda in Santarém on Tuesday (10), meeting with the Municipal Secretary of Economic Development (Semdec) to align the next steps of the partnership aimed at promoting local development.

The strategy developed by Codec, called Induction to Local Development, aims to structure the municipalities of Pará to attract investments in an organized, sustainable manner aligned with regional potential. The methodology, composed of seven stages, includes mapping productive chains, infrastructure analysis, logistical assessment, and support for creating legal instruments that favor the establishment of new companies.

In Santarém, four of these stages have already been completed. Now, the partnership advances to the final phase, which includes drafting a municipal law proposal for tax incentives, a training workshop on attracting investments and businesses aimed at municipal employees, and the launch of the Santarém Investor Guide, scheduled for September. The material will gather strategic data about the municipality, highlighting opportunities, logistical differentials, and growth potential.

“We are helping the municipality to better structure itself to compete for investments. Codec's role is precisely to support municipalities in creating a favorable business environment, focusing on job creation, income, and regional development,” emphasized Pádua Rodrigues, Director of Strategy and Institutional Relations at Codec.

The Municipal Secretary of Economic Development, Michell Martins, highlighted the importance of the partnership in boosting the local economy. “This partnership has been fundamental for Santarém. We are adjusting the instruments that will allow us to attract new companies and show that the municipality is ready to grow responsibly,” he stated.

This action is part of the Pará Government's effort to expand the reach of regional development policy, respecting the economic vocations of each territory and strengthening the institutional capacity of municipalities. In Santarém, the expectation is that, in addition to the future Industrial District, sectors such as agribusiness, industry, commerce, and tourism will also be boosted with the arrival of new investments.
