Specialized Course in Police River Actions of the PM Trains 28 Professionals to Reinforce Security in the Amazon
The ceremony marked the conclusion of the training, which brought together police and military firefighters from various States in Brazil.

The Military Police of Pará held, this Tuesday (10), the closing ceremony of the Specialized Course in Police River Actions, with the training of 28 professionals from public security forces, including police and military firefighters from various units and Brazilian States. The training was considered strategic for combating organized crime in the riverside regions of the Amazon.
Held between April 14 and June 9, the course had a workload of 350 hours and involved 23 subjects, focusing on operations in rivers, isolated communities, and hard-to-reach areas. Among the topics covered, environmental legislation, pre-hospital care in riverside regions, aerial operations, and river patrolling were highlighted. In addition to agents from Pará, six members of the National Force from the States of Acre, Rondônia, Maranhão, Goiás, Amazonas, and the Federal District also participated.
During the ceremony, the general commander of the Military Police of Pará, Colonel Dilson Júnior, emphasized the importance of the training for public security in the Amazon.
“In the Amazon, our rivers are the streets where everything circulates, including organized crime. Combating drug trafficking and other illegal activities depends on a trained troop to operate in these environments,” he stated.

The commander also highlighted the investments made by the State Government, such as river bases. “Investing in equipment is essential, but the main capital is human. This training raises the level of our troop and promotes the exchange between corporations, which is essential to face transnational crime in the Amazon. I congratulate the graduates and their families, who were fundamental to the success of this journey,” concluded the general commander.
Family support and professional achievement - The emotion also marked the graduation ceremony, as reported by Berlinda Gouveia, wife of soldier Gouveia, one of the graduates.
“It was quite painful because we have a small two-year-old son, but thank God, even from afar, I was certainly praying a lot, cheering a lot for him to achieve this dream he has had for a long time, since he joined the Military Police,” she said.

Soldier Paulo Sousa Gouveia himself, who ranked among the top three in the course, highlighted family support as a fundamental factor for the achievement.
“Being well at home automatically contributes to achieving a good result. The course itself is not easy, it is painful, but in the end, the victory is certainly rewarding. I can only thank God, my family, and my brothers, the 28 riverine officers, who without each other's support, we would not have made it to the end.”

For Corporal Alexandre Nascimento Souza, from the 1st Independent Company of Environmental Policing (CIPAmb) in Santarém, the training was essential to expand technical and operational knowledge in river activities.
“The course was of great value to me and to all the other 27 graduates because we had in-depth knowledge in the area of river policing. I work in the environmental area in Santarém and this type of training is very necessary, as the city is entirely covered by rivers,” he emphasized.
The river actions course greatly raises the operational technical level of our military police, so they leave trained to act in the most diverse occurrences involving our river network, combating crime, patrolling on board, combating drug trafficking, riverside patrolling, so all this sum of efforts contributes to better serve the society of Pará,” explained the Commander of the Independent River Police Company (CIPFlu), Captain Adrian Soares.
Recognition - The top three graduates of the course were:
1st place: SD PM Luciano Ferreira Vieira (CPRM)
2nd place: CB PM Anderson Bonfim Ferreira (2nd BME)
3rd place: SD PM Paulo Márcio Sousa Gouveia (20th CIPM)
The class also had the support of specialized instructors and technical support from the corporation, strengthening the integration between state and federal forces in combating crime in the Amazon.
