Athletes from 'Talentos Esportivos' win 12 medals and team trophy at international gymnastics championship
The Pará delegation shines at the XXIV International Olympic Cup of Artistic Gymnastics in Uruguay, highlighting the importance of support from the Government of Pará

The artistic gymnastics from Pará shone on the international stage. Athletes from the Talentos Esportivos Program, from the State Secretariat of Sports and Leisure (Seel), won a total of 12 medals — including 5 gold, 3 silver, and 4 bronze — as well as a team champion trophy at the XXIV International Olympic Cup of Artistic Gymnastics, held in Montevideo, Uruguay. The competition is organized by the South American Gymnastics Federation and the Uruguayan Gymnastics Federation and brought together athletes from across the continent.
The Pará gymnasts stood out in various categories, from adult to children. In total, 20 athletes were taken by the Government of Pará to represent the state, bringing back not only the medals but also the team title.

The Secretary of Seel, Cássio Andrade, celebrated the athletes' performance and highlighted the State's ongoing commitment to promoting sports. “The success of the athletes from the Talentos Esportivos Program shows the commitment and continuous investment of the Government of Pará and Seel in the development of sports in various modalities. This program has proven effective in identifying and supporting promising talents, promoting not only amateur sports but also Olympic and Paralympic modalities. The recent achievements in international competitions highlight the dedication of the athletes and coaches. The victories achieved are a source of pride and motivation for these investments to continue growing, ensuring that Pará is always well represented in the sports scene,” he stated.

Among the victories that marked the participation of the Pará athletes, the highlight was the team gold in the Escuela category (pre-infantile ages 6 to 8), in the solo and vault events. In individual highlights, Pérola Daiana Pereira won a gold medal in the Escuela Gymnastics – Level 1 category. In the same competition, Geovana Andrade took silver, while Elisa Delgado Torres and Marina Melo shared the bronze.
Elisa Delgado, just 6 years old, won individual bronze and team gold. She did not hide her happiness with the results. “I am very happy with the achievement and motivated to train more for the next competitions. I can only thank the Government of Pará and Seel for all the support,” said the young athlete.

Also celebrating was the athlete's mother, lawyer Thalita Delgado Torres. For her, the support provided by the Government is essential for children to have access to opportunities like this. “As a mother of an athlete, I find the support from Seel very important, as there are many children involved in social projects who depend on this financial support to travel and stay in sports. Sports, above all, teach discipline, life experience, and skills that they carry into life. We see children in the gym and could see those same children on much more dangerous paths. So, sports are always beneficial, and a social project that involves sports and children tends to lead these children down the right path,” Thalita emphasized.
She also recalled that this was Elisa's second international experience, as she had previously competed in Peru, also through Talentos Esportivos. “In this championship, the girls came back with several medals, my daughter placed third. This is her second trip. Last year, she was in Peru through the Talentos Esportivos project and also with the support of Seel, and she brought medals in all events. The family has a lot to be thankful for and can count more and more on the support of the Government of Pará,” she added.

The athletes' coach, Professor Ulisses Lima, also highlighted the importance of the international experience for the gymnasts' development. “This competition is very important for us because it is an international competition, and it gives the opportunity for both more experienced athletes and newcomers to participate in a different contest. It is not a national competition; it is international, with regulations used throughout America, except in Brazil. They live this experience, which is very important. And of course, all of this is only possible thanks to the support of Seel. If we do not have this support from the Government, from Secretary Cássio Andrade, we cannot do anything. This support is fundamental,” the coach stated.
Now, the Talentos Esportivos group is already preparing for the upcoming challenges in the second semester. At the end of June, the athletes will participate in the qualifiers for the Youth Games and the Brazilian School Games (JEBs), which will be held on the 28th and 29th. In July, Belém will host the Amazon Cup of Gymnastics from the 11th to the 13th. Shortly after, the athletes will head to São Paulo, where they will compete in the Brazilian Pre-Infant Championship from July 31 to August 3.
The recent achievements confirm that the talent of the Pará athletes continues to shine and bring the name of Pará to the podium of major competitions.
