With Emater's Environment Week, the Government of Pará plants 10 thousand future trees
The 'Let's Plant' event takes place in all 144 municipalities of Pará

Under the motto "Let's Plant", the Government of Pará is planting about 10 thousand new trees this week in all 144 municipalities of Pará, through the IV Environment Week of the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the State of Pará (Emater). The event started on Wednesday (4) and runs until this Friday (6) throughout Pará, in partnership with municipal governments and institutions from the agrofarming and environmental sectors.

The collective sowing of seedlings of açaí, andiroba, cocoa, and cumaru, among other species, is promoted together with the population and integrates various actions, such as lectures, guided visits to environmental preservation areas, and the delivery of rural environmental registrations (cars), national registrations of family agriculture (cafs), and payments for environmental services (psas).
In Canaã dos Carajás, in Carajás, for example, the closing practice of the program celebrated three kilometers of ecological walking through the Veredas dos Carajás Municipal Park, over five hours: "There were three consecutive days of intense activity: implementation of horticulture beds in a public school in the rural area [Escola Municipal de Ensino Infantil e Fundamental - Emeif Carlos Henrique], seminar, lecture. The ecological trail was ours with employees from the City Council: elevations, climbing hills, beautiful landscapes," said Emater environmental engineer Matheus Sousa, a specialist in Geotechnology.

"The Week raises awareness about the theme of Sustainability, which is a guideline of Emater's work. Here we work with the recovery of degraded areas, seed recovery, legal reserve areas," enumerated the head of Emater's local office in Canaã dos Carajás, Matheus Sousa added.
Mobilization
According to Emater, this year's Environment Week, whose emblem is "Public Ater for Climate Justice in the Amazon", anticipates and deepens urgent agendas of the 30th United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP-30), to be held in the capital Belém in November.
"Strengthening public technical assistance and rural extension [ater] is an essential instrument of climate justice. This is a moment when Emater shows and clarifies to society that the service to family agriculture considers a mindset, a routine, and an implementation of public policies in the guideline of sustainability, socio-bioeconomics, and environmental commitment," points out Emater's operations coordinator, environmental engineer Camila Salim, a specialist in Environmental and Sustainable Management in the Amazon and a master's degree holder in Environmental Sciences.
