State-managed women's shelter in Lower Amazon awarded for the 3rd time
This year, the project presented was the implementation of a playroom, designed to serve children and adolescents who accompany their mothers, victims of domestic violence.

For the third consecutive year, the state shelter for women victims of domestic and family violence in the Lower Amazon, located in the municipality of Santarém, was awarded resources from the Central of Measures and Alternative Penalties (Cempa), of the Court of Justice of the State of Pará (TJPA). Managed by the State Government, through the State Secretariat of Social Assistance, Labor, Employment and Income (Seaster), the space was one of the 19 institutions awarded this year, receiving R$ 25,000 for new investments in the care of women and their children.
The award ceremony took place in May, at the Jury Court of the Santarém District Court, with the presence of representatives from the judiciary and social entities in the region.
The resources from Cempa come from monetary penalties and are directed to projects that have public interest relevance, especially in the areas of social assistance, public safety, health, and education.
This year, the project presented by the shelter was the implementation of the playroom - “To play and live without violence” - a welcoming experience in a playful and pedagogical environment, designed to serve children and adolescents who accompany their mothers, victims of domestic violence. The initiative also enables the acquisition of educational materials, as well as toys and pedagogical resources, which will contribute to a more humanized and qualified care.
“I thank God for this achievement, so important for the implementation of the playroom, which will optimize pedagogical care and provide dignity to women, children, and adolescents victims of domestic and family violence,” said Rosileide Lima, manager of the shelter.
The commitment of the team and the constant qualification of the services were decisive for the new award.
Previous awards have already allowed significant improvements in the structure of the shelter, such as the acquisition of furniture, electronic equipment, and climate control systems. Changes that, according to the manager, have directly impacted the quality of care and the well-being of women and children.
"We always work towards investments in professionals and infrastructure, so that the residents have a place that offers more and more comfort and tranquility, in addition to providing a multidisciplinary technical team that gives the necessary support, and the award is the recognition of all this effort and work executed with promptness and dedication from all involved. We will continue working to strengthen the provision of this service in our State," said Inocencio Gasparim, head of Seaster.
Today we have a more comfortable and suitable space, both for the residents and for the technical teams. The local community and our partners recognize and value this progress,” he stated.
Care - The Government of Pará, through Seaster, maintains four state shelters aimed at protecting women in vulnerable situations. The spaces offer temporary shelter, comprehensive care, and coordinated services with the social assistance network, public policies, and the justice system.
The recognition for the third consecutive year consolidates the strategic role of the shelter in the Lower Amazon region, within the state network for the protection of women, and reaffirms the current administration's commitment to ensuring the rights and safety of victims of domestic and family violence.
