Adepará adopts new sanitary rules for the transit of birds and eggs in Pará
Pará has not registered cases of avian influenza, and the preventive measure from the State Agricultural Defense Agency aims to protect poultry production

Pará continues to adopt preventive measures against the avian influenza virus in the state. In addition to the surveillance actions carried out by the official veterinary service through the state poultry health program, the government has already published a preventive decree for the use of resources in case of a sanitary emergency.
The most recent measure was the publication of a regulation by the Agricultural Defense Agency of Pará (Adepará), published on Tuesday (3) in the State Official Gazette (DOE), establishing a series of sanitary conditions for the agricultural transit of birds and eggs in the state.
“The goal is to prevent poultry production from the entry of highly pathogenic avian influenza caused by the H5N1 virus. The entry of birds and fertile eggs from states with confirmed cases of avian influenza is prohibited,” said the agricultural transit manager of Adepará, Paulo Bastos.
According to regulation No. 2962/2025, the entry of birds and eggs from states where the disease has been confirmed is prohibited. Live birds, fertile eggs, ornamental birds, and wild birds from states with confirmed occurrences of avian influenza cannot enter Pará.

“If the cargo comes from states that do not have confirmed cases of the disease, the transporter must present a valid Animal Transit Guide (GTA) and a veterinary certificate, ensuring that the animals are healthy. This document must be issued within 72 hours before the transport of the animals. It is necessary that the location receiving the birds or eggs is registered with Adepará. Otherwise, the cargo will return to the place of origin and cannot continue its journey. The decree applies to all types of birds, both wild and domestic and commercial,” comments the agricultural transit manager of the Defense Agency, Paulo Bastos.
During the validity period of the regulation, Adepará will intensify inspections at the 14 Fixed Agricultural Inspection Posts in Pará, and those who disobey the rule will be subject to penalties provided by law.
Adepará reiterates that Pará has not registered any cases of avian influenza. All suspected cases had samples collected for testing at the federal agriculture laboratory of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa), and the results were negative, and the cases were dismissed.
