Forensic Police participates in the fight against cyber crimes in Parauapebas
The device was sent to the forensic computer laboratory at the headquarters in Belém for a complete examination of the stored content.
The Forensic Police of Pará (PCEPA) participated on the morning of Tuesday (3) in the 4th phase of Operation Guardian Angel, to identify those responsible for content and material related to child sexual abuse on the internet, in Parauapebas, southeastern Pará.
The operation was coordinated by the Division for Combating Crimes Against Vulnerable Groups Committed by Cyber Means, of the Civil Police of Pará, and included the forensic computer team from the Regional Coordination of Marabá.
The Civil Police investigation revealed that there was a mobile device sharing child pornography material at a specific residence in the municipality. The report already contained internet records with the times and IP addresses that were transferring the files to other devices with this type of criminal content.
“During the search, the device was located, confirming the same model, IMEI number, and email address of the Google account,” stated criminal expert Davi Sena.
At the residence, the device was found in the possession of an elderly person, who was taken to the Police Station to provide a statement. The device was sent to the forensic computer laboratory at the headquarters in Belém for a complete examination of the stored content.
“A procedure will be carried out to extract the stored data and subsequently analyze this data. During the analysis, the files are classified, indexed, and when possible, deleted data is recovered. Then the expert searches for content related to the investigation, in this case being child pornography material,” explained the criminal expert.
Combating Child Sexual Exploitation
Last May, the annual national campaign for awareness and confrontation of the abuse and sexual exploitation of children and adolescents took place. In consideration of Law 9.970/2000, the date May 18 was established as the National Day for Combating Child Abuse and Sexual Exploitation in Brazil.
“The Forensic Police works, along with other security agencies, to combat this type of crime against the vulnerable. Through our high-tech forensic computer equipment, we have been very successful in recovering deleted data that supports the investigations of the Civil Police,” stated the general director and criminal expert of PCEPA, Celso Mascarenhas.
