Pará registers a 60% drop in violent crimes in the first 5 months of 2025
May 2025 is considered the second best month in the entire historical series and the best May in the historical series, according to data from Segup

Based on the three i's policy of public safety: integration, investment, and intelligence, the State Government, through the Public Security and Social Defense System, has been ensuring excellent results, according to data from the Criminal Intelligence and Analysis Subsecretariat (Siac), linked to the Public Security and Social Defense Secretariat (Segup).
According to the numbers presented this Sunday (1st), the first five months of 2025 recorded a drop of approximately 60% compared to 2018 in the rates of Intentional Lethal Violent Crimes (CVLI), which include homicide, femicide, robbery followed by death, and bodily injury resulting in death.

According to the survey, in the accumulated data for 2025, from January 1 to May 31, there were 726 cases of CVLI in Pará, compared to 1,803 in 2018 – over 1000 cases less between the periods. Compared to the same period in 2024, when 817 records were counted, the reduction is 11.14% and reaches 18.4% when compared to the first five months of 2023.
According to the Secretary of Public Security, Ualame Machado, the numbers reflect the commitment and dedication of the security forces, which have been tirelessly working to protect the people of Pará.

“Investments in technology, modernization of our equipment, and the expansion of intelligence units have been fundamental to the success of our operations. I thank each of the agents, police officers, and professionals who dedicate themselves daily to ensuring the safety of everyone. We will continue to invest in training, intelligence, and integration so that we can achieve even better results. Together, we are building a safer and fairer state for all citizens,” Ualame stated.
May also has good results and is the second best month in the historical line
With 143 occurrences of CVLI, May 2025 achieved a decrease of 61% compared to 367 cases in May 2018, thus being considered the second best month in the entire historical series and the best May in the historical series. The daily average for May 2025 was 5 compared to 12 recorded in May 2018. Compared to May 2024, with 159 cases, the reduction is 10%.

Compared to May 2023, which closed with 191 records, the reduction is 25%, expanding to 43.4% and 50%, compared respectively with 2022 and 2019, the beginning and end of the current administration's first term.
“This title indicates that the security strategies implemented were particularly effective during this period, resulting in a significant reduction in violence compared to other months of May. It also reinforces how May 2025 was a highlight period in crime reduction, surpassed only by a single month in the entire historical series. These results demonstrate a remarkable advance in public safety and reflect the positive impact of the actions and investments made,” Ualame concluded.

At the beginning of this year, the Government of Pará ensured new investments to strengthen the actions of the security forces, through training, deliveries of the New River Group, Military Police Battalions, and Civil Police Stations; in addition to armaments such as rifles, non-lethal weapons, new police stations, ballistic vests, armored vehicles, and also the delivery of 50 new public safety totems. All the investments made continue to contribute to the security actions developed throughout Pará.
