State and City Hall monitor the progress of the "Asphalt COP30" works in the Marambaia neighborhood

The Government of Pará and the City Hall of Belém were monitoring, on the morning of this Saturday (31), the progress of the "Asphalt COP30" works in the Marambaia neighborhood. The infrastructure and urban mobility initiative is part of the legacies of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, which will take place next November in the capital of Pará.

The visit to the streets receiving services in the Marambaia neighborhood included the mayor of Belém, Igor Normando; the vice-mayor, Cássio Andrade; the director of Inspection and Monitoring of Works of the State Department of Public Works (Seop), Cristina Guedes; as well as other municipal and state authorities.

In total, 16 streets in Marambaia will receive asphalt paving works, totaling 2.6 kilometers of improvements aimed at the quality of life of residents. Of this number, two streets have already been fully paved: Passagem Mirandinha and Passagem Nova.
The Travessa Fluminense, between Passagem Helena and the Canal Bridge, is receiving earthworks, a stage that precedes the paving. The self-employed Amanda Ataíde has lived in the area for over 20 years and celebrates the arrival of the paving.

"Our street was very ugly, with many holes and flooding. Cars and ambulances couldn't get in here; access was very complicated. Now, with the asphalt, it will be much better. We are happy to receive this improvement after a long time. The day has come," highlighted Amanda Ataíde.
The "Asphalt COP30" program is executed by the State Government and the City Hall of Belém, with support from the Federal Government through Itaipu Binacional. More than 150 streets have already been paved, with 50 kilometers of works. In total, 35 neighborhoods and districts of the capital will benefit.

"In addition to Marambaia, other districts and neighborhoods in Belém are already experiencing the benefits of investments in asphalt, which are the result of the COP 30 being held in our capital. These mobility works represent another opportunity for the Government of Pará and the City Hall to meet the needs of people suffering from mud and dust," evaluates the Secretary of Public Works, Ruy Cabral.
