Police seize about 300 kg of drugs and arrest five people during river operation
The action of the Military Police in the municipality of Prainha is part of Operation Maximum Load and reinforces the fight against interstate drug trafficking

Continuing with Operation Maximum Load, the Military Police of Pará, through the Regional Policing Command I (CPR-I), carried out a strategic action against drug trafficking on the afternoon of this Friday (30), in the municipality of Prainha, located in the Lower Amazon region. During the river operation, approximately 300 kg of drugs were seized and five people were arrested.
The initiative focuses on qualified repression against drug trafficking and related offenses in the western region of the State, with integrated actions of land and river patrolling. Police presence has been intensified in areas considered sensitive, with a history of occurrences related to interstate trafficking of illicit substances.

Seizure on the Amazon River
During preventive patrolling on the Amazon River, teams from the 18th Battalion of the PM approached a suspicious vessel. After inspection, about 300 kilograms of an unidentified narcotic substance were found. With one of the suspects, the police also seized a pistol, two magazines, and 30 rounds of ammunition.
At the end of the operation, five people were detained and taken, along with the seized material, to the competent police unit for the necessary legal procedures.
Integrated operations in the Lower Amazon
In addition to Operation Maximum Load, the Military Police also executes Operation Safe Rivers in the same region. Together, the actions have resulted in the seizure of more than 450 kilograms of drugs just in the month of May.

“The Government of Pará has been heavily investing in river bases to repress drug trafficking in the region. We know that during this period of river flooding, alternative routes used by criminals emerge. Therefore, CPR-I planned Operation Maximum Load to intensify and enhance the PM's actions, both in river and land areas, with the aim of intercepting and seizing these illicit loads,” highlighted Major Dutra, commander of the 18th BPM.
The operations have been fundamental in reinforcing the State's presence in riverside regions and combating organized crime with preventive and repressive actions that ensure greater tranquility for the population of the Lower Amazon.
