Civil Police arrests suspect in the act of killing radio host in Abaetetuba
He was being monitored and received a warrant of arrest from the civil police. The case is under investigation by the Homicide Division of Abaetetuba.
The Civil Police of Pará arrested, this Friday (30), the main suspect responsible for shooting radio host Luís Augusto Carneiro da Costa, 46 years old. Agents from the Regional Superintendence of Baixo Tocantins, the Homicide Division of Abaetetuba, and the Vila dos Cabanos Police Station launched operation "Law Antenna" and carried out several actions to locate and arrest the suspect in the act.
The crime occurred on the morning of Tuesday (27), in Abaetetuba, northeastern Pará, and generated significant repercussions in the city. The victim was hosting a live program when a hooded man invaded the location and fired shots.
"The actions began immediately after the police team was alerted, when the victim was shot three times while hosting his live radio program. The listeners heard the shots and the victim's screams live, causing panic and social upheaval in Abaetetuba and the surrounding area. Therefore, the Regional Superintendence of Baixo Tocantins immediately ordered a task force made up of civil police to locate the shooter," said delegate Mhoab Khayan, superintendent of the region.
Intelligence agents from the Investigation Support Nucleus (NAI) also worked to find the suspect's location. Based on the initial testimonies collected at the scene, it was possible to identify the characteristics of the perpetrator, who arrived at the radio station wearing a mask and riding an unlicensed motorcycle.
"The homicide was premeditated. The suspect entered the radio station, asked for the victim, pulled out a silver pistol, and fired three accurate shots at Luisinho without saying a word. After the crime, he left the location on the same vehicle. The PCPA teams collected the images from the monitoring circuit that were used to track his route," said delegate Hennison Jacob, head of the Police Directorate (DPI).
During the execution of a search and seizure warrant issued by the Justice, the civil police seized the motorcycle used in the crime and the suspect's cell phone. "At the police station, during the formal interrogation, the man confessed to the crime and explained that the motivation was due to disagreements with the victim related to event organization in Vila do Conde, located in Barcarena. He also provided details of the entire criminal action and was arrested in the act for the crime of qualified homicide," continued delegate Mhoab Khayan.
Taken to the Homicide Division of Abaetetuba, the suspect is currently held in custody and is at the disposal of Justice.
