Multiprofessional Week Reinforces Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, and Care in the Hospital Environment
The event highlighted the importance of humanized care, valuing the healthcare team and respecting differences.
Valuing those who care, respecting differences, and promoting a welcoming and humanized environment were some of the pillars of the 1st Multiprofessional Week "Caring for Those Who Care: Sowing Health at Every Step," which concluded this Thursday (29). The initiative, which began on the 26th, was held in Belém (Galileu Public Hospital and Metropolitan Polyclinic), Marabá (Southeast Pará Regional Hospital and Carajás Polyclinic), and Tucuruí (Lake Polyclinic).
Educator Lúcia Poletti, a speaker on the last day of the event with the theme "Intersectorality in Health: Diversity and Inclusion in Care," emphasized the importance of stimulating dialogues about changes in health care. "It is necessary to build care that respects diversity and inclusion at all levels of the SUS, with ongoing training and a comprehensive and effective approach to health promotion and disease prevention," she highlighted.
During the four days of programming, the 1st Multiprofessional Week, promoted by the Amazon Social and Environmental Health Institute (ISSAA), in partnership with the Pará State Department of Public Health (Sespa), brought together lectures and wellness activities such as bingo, quizzes, movie sessions, dynamics, massages, and beauty services, strengthening the integration and welcoming of the teams.
Psychologist Vanessa Bremer, who led the lecture "The Power of Team Care: Communication, Trust, and Collaboration," reinforced that strengthening bonds among professionals is essential for building humanized care.
"More than an event, the Multiprofessional Week consolidates itself as a space for listening, welcoming, and development. Caring for those who care is investing not only in technical training but also in emotional support and the construction of collaborative networks. These are the elements that make possible a more sensitive, empathetic, and transformative care," she emphasized.
Voices That Make a Difference
Participants in the event report that reflections on inclusion had direct impacts on their practice. Nurse Poliana Lobo, who works at the Southeast Pará Regional Hospital (HRSP) in Marabá, shared her view on the importance of a broader perspective. "The patient does not come to us just with a disease; they bring a story, a social reality. The event reinforced that recognizing differences is a fundamental part of care," she explained.
She also highlighted that behind every diagnosis, there is someone with unique dreams, fears, affections, and challenges. "When we look beyond the symptoms, we can offer more empathetic, welcoming, and effective care," emphasized the nurse.
Nursing technician Michele Sodré, from the Carajás Polyclinic in Marabá, shares the same view. For her, reflecting on diversity and inclusion in the hospital environment is essential.
"In day-to-day life, with such an intense routine, we often do not realize that some attitudes end up not being as welcoming as they should be. Participating in this moment made me understand that it is possible and necessary to be a more attentive, more sensitive, and more willing professional to see and welcome the singularities of each person who comes to us," she emphasized.
For the Corporate Care Manager of ISSAA, Ângela Barbosa, the Multiprofessional Week expresses the commitment of the managed units to building environments that respect diversities and promote inclusion as pillars of excellent care.
"We believe that a hospital is much more than a space for physical healing. It is a meeting place for different people, with diverse knowledge, unique stories, and distinct needs. Promoting inclusion, diversity, and empathy is not just an institutional value; it is a daily practice that strengthens care and transforms realities," she concluded.
