Amazônia Jazz Band performs at the closing of the Quermesse Mariana

This Saturday (31), at 7:30 PM, the Amazônia Jazz Band will perform at the Concha Acústica, in Praça Santuário, during the closing of the Quermesse Mariana. On this occasion, the faithful will get to know the Poster of Círio 2025, considered one of the symbols of the Marian procession.
The program is organized by the Government of the State of Pará, through the State Secretariat of Culture (Secult), Theatro da Paz, the Paraense Academy of Music (APM), and the Directorate of the Festa de Nazaré (DFN). The master sponsorship is from the Vale Cultural Institute, via the Cultural Incentive Law.
“It is a moment of devotion and expectation for all the people of Pará, because it is the kickoff for Círio 2025. And it is also an opportunity to democratize access to culture with the presentation of the Amazônia Jazz Band in such a festive and emotional moment,” emphasizes the acting Secretary of Culture, Bruno Chagas.
The Amazônia Jazz Band will present the show “Amazônia na Praça”, with an eclectic repertoire, bringing together rhythms and songs from regional and national artists, from Gilberto Gil to Joelma, ensuring energy and musicality.
For Augusto Meireles, bassist of AJB and devotee of Our Lady of Nazaré, performing at this moment of Marian devotion is a mix of blessings and joy. “Playing at this moment is already a great blessing in itself. Being with the Amazônia Jazz Band is double joy, it feels like having Easter again and Christmas in advance.”
Poster of Círio - The poster is considered one of the symbols of the religious festival, and the first dates back to 1826, made in Portugal.
The symbol is traditionally fixed on the doors of houses, public institutions, and businesses to honor Our Lady of Nazaré. Nowadays, the poster is created by a volunteer advertising agency and made from photographs. Since 2007, the presentation of the Poster has been open to the public.
Quermesse Mariana - Held by the Directorate of the Festa de Nazaré since 2022 to bring the concept of the Arraial de Nazaré to different times of the year. The program includes musical attractions, sales of handicrafts and religious articles, food court, and leisure space.
